Nah I admit my mistakes as well. We never had a chance at Makar. I’m still the only who suggests trade downs sometimes. Avoids an OJ pick when depth is there to pick later. - Nighthawk
Lots of people here wanted Jake and did not want to sign TT for four years. They said he was too slow. - VANTEL
I dont really remember enough to comment confidently but I do remember most people thinking that Toffoli signed a pretty reasonable deal with MTL and questioning why the Canucks didn't sign him after seeing those numbers.
I think Marky people were okay with letting go of after Bubble Demko and because of the term Calgary gave him.
Tanev people wanted if he signed shorter term but were okay with letting him walk at 4 years due to injury concerns as he ages.
Virtanen was coming off of a pretty weak bubble performance after all the "he'll be good in the playoffs" hype.
The Holtby deal was pretty meh for most people, don't think most people loved it or really hated it.

I remember well. It was almost split on signing Jake . I even remember one or two people like Lefty saying he will get 3.5 mil because he had 18 goals the year before.
I wanted to pay him 1.2-1.5 seeing he dropped all year from top 6 to healthy scratches but mostly on the 4 th line.
I predicted the Holtby signing of two years at 4.5 . Big mistake . I thought he would be decent short term but he was terrible. Thankfully Demko rose immediately and took the #1 spot.
I was glad to see Tanev gone and still don't miss him at all.
Markstrom and Toffoli I was okay if they signed 2 x 4.5 but wanted nothing long term. I still like Demko over Marky any day of the week.

Letting Marky walk was a great move in hindsight, not becasue Marky sucks but because Demko is such a stud and younger.
I'd still take Tanev easily over Schmidt/Myers/OEL, but I know where you stand and you know where I stand so agree to disagree lol
Virtanen I remember having a nice regular season but being a huge disappointment in the bubble, I think a decent amount fans soured on him at that point after actually liking him during the regular season. Partly because there was also this little hope that maybe he'd have another gear in the playoffs and instead he was worse than he was during the regular season.
Toffoli seemed pretty well liked by the fanbase, I remember the slow skater comments being made more after he signed in Montreal not before then And it was still stupid as (frank) because I'm pretty sure management knew what kind of skater he was before they traded away one of their top prospects and a pick away for him so it was dumb as hell to not even offer the guy a contract at all, at least offer him some sort of deal, even if it's less than what MTL offered because clearly the guy was disappointed to leave here.

That’s right for me but I didn’t want to sign Jake and I was ok w holtby 😳

We had Marky and Tanev and won nothing. Both are good players for the right team . Tanev got peppered and nailed every year with shot blocking and getting targeted without the team responding .
Calgary plays in the other end of the ice and you go after one of their players and you will pay the price. Canucks don't offer the same services. We offer stern looks.
I like this team , this year they are growing somewhat and getting rid of bad players.
NHL is so sensitive and soft. In other leagues, players embrace being in the big spotlight cities, soccer/baseball/football and in the NHL people just whine about the twitter trolls. Super weird and definitely a bit of an echo chamber mentality going on, waaah it's hard for players to play here
I get what Friedman was saying about the Sedins now, say what you will about them taking punches, they didn't cry about the fans making it hard for them or the team. Truly a pathetic excuse and a sign of a mentally weak team

This team hasn't won poop either though
Agree with your comment about Calgary vs Vancouver though, different team mentalities and different talent levels. Adding a 4th line goon won't change a damn thing, it has to start from the leadership group. That's where Bo has fallen short, part of that was becasue he played for the wrong coaches too. Should've hired Hartley over Green.

So now you admit he fights. My job is done here. - boonerbuck
he also does nothing during games when the other team is running around, I've seen games where the other team is playing hard on the forecheck and finishing checks hard, and then you have your 215 pound captain Bo doing fly byes and stick waves on the forecheck.
I don't want him going around trying to start fights, just be tougher to play against, show a backbone when the situation calls for it, don't think that's too much to ask for
I'd ask Bo's own idol Jonathan Toews who was tougher to play against, Kesler or Horvat. He might lie because he hates Kesler but we all know the real answer. Kesler didn't fight for teammates, but he was a female dog to play against.

Neither are captain material obviously - Nucker101
I see you had your post prepped and ready. You are frisky tonight. You must of had one and a half coolers earlier.
Imagine if Jim signed Toffoli for $4.25 and traded Boeser. Would have gotten a great haul for him back then. Toffoli plus young top 4 dman and a 1st? Or Boeser lol - CanuckDon
It's almost like a poster in here was beating the trade Boeser for a dman drum a few years ago.....

queue Booner posting Bo's fights - Nucker101
You are correct they haven't won anything yet but I am still enjoying . Sue me

Markstrom was offered 4X5.5 very fair contract and more than he was worth at the time after the Canucks organization spent 5 years on his development. Canucks saw Demko was progressing much quicker so it was a solid choice. Wanted Tanev gone for awhile here he was useless half the time with injuries. But like you indicated CGY shelters his play so less injuries...for now lol. Very glad bot Tanev and Marky are gone it was the right call.
