While they're doing something right, Kenny is a very knowledgeable hockey guy and he's going to call it like he sees it. I'm surprised he's only doing TV

Hey ranger fans, not trolling, serious question about how Lafreniere looks?

My dynasty hockey team is failing, and I am looking to move Kucherov, the team interested in him, wants a to give a package centered around Lafreniere.

I dont watch many ranger games, so all I know are his stats, which dont seem too good. How has he looked, does it seem like he is improving?

I was thinking about this last night. There’s almost no reason to keep nils, Jones, Robertson, etc. 5 of our 6 defensemen are set for a long time to come. The bottom pairing LD should be a vet on a min contract. You don’t want to completely empty the cupboard but Jones, nils, and to a lesser extent Robertson are all very close to nhl ready and we can’t fit them in the lineup
- picklerick

I would trade all three of those players over this years first. Refill that cupboard baby, keep the talent pool full.

Obviously if the right deal comes along you trade the pick, but it would have to be a really good deal

Since he’s gotten proper playing time with top 6 players that have legit talent that can push him, he’s looked great. I’ve always been a believer in Laf, but I imagine even those that were skeptical early in the year would say his play is much improved.

I agree with Bean Dip.
I don't do fantasy anymore and I'm not sure what matters other than points. But, he is becoming a complete player and now figuring out how to score.

Yup. Only thing limiting him fantasy wise is powerplay time. 5 on 5 he’s been everything you can ask for. 5 points in his last 6 games!

Trade deadline wise, the two teams having reportedly scouted the Rangers most heavily since the Rangers return from the All Star break in mid February, are two who besides not facing the Rangers any longer from that point thru season's end; just one of has a long shot chance of even reaching the postseason. The latter's still in the playoff hunt should the Capitals entail a total collapse are the Blue Jackets, while the non contender's scouts are from the Kraken.

In knowing their interests in some made available by Seattle, the question is who Columbus has available, other than max Domi, who doesn't solve the Rangers issue of experienced faceoff skill & experience needed both on the 3rd line, and some key special team & other important game situations. Domi with exception for one breakout season with Montreal, doesn't fill their forward depth role needs, in also not having succeeded yet overall playing in contrast, in the Metro division.

Theres only 2 guys on CBJ that Id have any interest in, thats Sean Kuraly and their captain Boone Jenner. Bjorkstrand would be a nice pickup but I highly doubt hes available.

Thanks all for the feedback.

I took the gamble and made the trade;

Nikita Kucherov and Tyson Barrie for Alexis Lafreniere, Miro Heiskanen, and prospect Kent Johnson.

Both Jenner & Bjorkstrand are likely not available, with the latter had he been, & was acquired in having 4 more years at a $5.4M annual cap; would result in them being unable to fit in a new deal under the cap ceiling to retain Strome.

Kuraly at a $2.5M cap hit for 3 more years would be affordable, as would however, possibly for just this season, another of their centers in Roslovic at a 2022/23 full cap hit of slightly over $1.8M, but being RFA eligible this summer. Another BJ's center in Alexandre Texier would have been yet another consideration at only age 22 in having similar points production to Kuraly and Roslovic, but having played in about 20 fewer games than both. However, I believe Texier at a little over a $1.5M cap hit for 2 more seasons is on I.R., though would not be RFA eligible until that deal ends.

In this Tuesday night rematch at Minnesota, (after the Wild's 3-2 win in the first matchup on Jan. 28th with Henrik Lundqvist's #30 raised to the MSG rafters); the Rangers must come out just as in Winnipeg with a quick 1st period start to control 5 on 5 offensive zone play. That would apply greater pressure on the recently struggling 2-8-0 Wild in their last 10 games, due of key to having yielded goals as if handing out gifts, as per these breakouts:

(1) A min. of 3 GA/game in their last 11 straight games (for a 3-8-0 record).
(2) A min. of 4 GA/game in 9 of their last 11 games (2-7-0 in those 9 games).
(3) A min. of 5 GA/game in 6 of their last 10 games (0-6-0 in those 6 games).
(4) A min. of 6 GA/game in 4 of their last 10 games (0-4-0 in those 4 games).

Another reason for the in contrast, Shesty led 8-2-1 Rangers in their last 11 games, for wanting extended offensive zone play, which first can result in more penalties drawn against them, is the Wild have yielded 13 Power Play Goals on their last 30 Penalties taken, for a horrible 56% PK rate stretch. They also haven't been getting the top goaltending they initially received up through a few games after defeating the Rangers on Jan. 28th.

In Sunday's 6-3 home loss to Dallas which included 2 Stars' late empty netters, the Wild pulled their goalie trailing 4-1 for the final 8:52 of the 3rd, less (+/-) a 30 seconds stretch. If that wasn't a record time, the Stars besides first yielding 2 goals, likely set one in going scoreless by shooting wide on about 8 attempts, until scoring their 2 EN's in about the final minute, including Robertson's for his back to back game hattricks. Imagine if Shesty had over 8:00 of closing time at an empty net. He may have scored a hattrick himself.

Agreed they have 0 shot in cracking the lineup we might as well send them off for some depth and make a run. As long as we keep our picks in the draft we replenish that position in the next couple drafts

Well, we can use Jones, however its good to have gritty veteran defensemen who will block those shots, make the dives, sacrifice their body and make those hits we dont want our star players doing. Thats what Nemeth is getting paid to do.

I wouldnt use the term “make a run” as a phrase because Id not want to do this for 1 year. I want to bring in 2 or 3 guys who will stay here for 5 years. Which is why I like guys like Crouse, Rakell, Copp, Paul… especially if Strome prices himself out.

His season as a whole right now has me thinking if he wanted more than 5.5 they need to walk away. His play has dropped off significantly and his increase in penalty minutes isn't helping anything.

I've been pro Strome for a long time but I am not so sure anymore.

We’ve had Strome questions for a long time now. The jig is finally up this summer. I could easily see them trade for a second line center retain him (Ie-Hertl) and just let Strome walk the summer. I think the org feels a lot like you do

Ive never been the biggest Strome guy, but in defense of him, we can't complain every day about him having a RW who probably is more ECHL than NHL and also think Strome should be doing a lot more at the same time.

Lets see how he does when they upgrade that spot

talking about this last night with people, I dont even understand how Kravtsov gets out of Russia right now

he's become a non entity with the state of the world right now

who would consider trading for him at this point

I was wondering the same thing when I saw that. Even if the organization doesn't "lose" him, I'm not sure if Russia will let anyone come to the US atm.

yea this really screws us. He was one of our bigger trade assets. Going to be hard to pull off a decent size trade now

Perhaps, but players were defecting during the tail end of the cold war too. I bet there may be a way for him to come over at some point. That is if he wants to.
