I think the point was the non rookie players doing the fly-bys instead of their job put the rookie in a position he never should have been in. (where he admittedly made a poor decision and did the bad thing).

He’s a rookie his mistakes are more excusable than those of M&M. At least in my opinion.

I don't think it's a confidence thing as much as the results indicate its just plain above their capabilities and the team result is bad. Sandin got killed there, Liljegren has been touch and go.

They've both played well in second pair roles as a ceiling, why force it to a place that clearly isn't working. Not good for anyone.

Dubas has got to fix the blueline, period. In the meantime:

Rielly / Dermott
Brodie / Liljegren
Sandin / Lyubushkin

Playing with Rielly is the only spot I didn't absolutely hate Dermotts game. Rotate Holl in as needed.

I honestly think it’s why Dubas has openly admitted to looking for another d man… so Liljegren and Sandin get flipped in and out of games and rarely play in the same ones any longer
