Butch earned my respect with 19 points in his first playoff run .. followed by a Conn SMyth trophy in the next one... He knows more about Hockey than you will ever know.. The fact that he Leans towards the Islanders during his broadcast is b/c he was and is an Islander. He is worlds better than most of the color guys we have had.. including AJ, and Jaffe, and Micheletti, and Crispino. the only one that was close was Westfall. - niteislander
Jaffe was the best color guy we ever had. Also Westfall sucked.
I'm kind of indifferent to Butch. He says a lot of dumb stuff, but so do most color guys.

I love Butch the same way I loved Phil Rizzuto doing Yanks games. By the end of Scooter's career he wouldn't last to the 8th inning, but I loved the guy. That is how I feel about Butch.. when he messes up a name or a call he laughs at himself.. and yes he is definetely biased but listening to a game where the Color guy is talking about the other team's players non stop like Piere McGuire is maddening.. give me a guy who knows and favors our guys every time. Butch is an Islander... how could you not love him?
