If Murray is on LTIR I'm assuming his contract has insurance on it. If that's the case, Melynk isn't paying anything, so he won't care. |

Same went with Colin White, 80% of the salary is covered by insurance!

Baring another injury, i think Norris will hit 30G and beyond |

Wow, the Sens challenge a Seattle goal, it was offside! Then Ottawa scores less than a minute later to go up 1-0, what a change of momentum! |

Yup and his next contract will be greater than Batherson's at this point!

Suzuki Contract ask he will. |

Im guessing Murray on LTIR for concussion persistent concussion symptoms. He got whiplashed again. He needs to go see Crosby's doctor. His head is made of egg shells. It's a long term fix. Unfortunate. He was playing well for a stretch there.
I believe there is some stinky water under the Luke Richardson bridge. I love the guy, but he's not coming back with this owner\gm in place. - Octavarium
True on Richardson, PD interviewed him before and gave the job to Boucher when Luke was the HC in Bingo!

Hey Kevin! I have Batherson in a pool where we have our last meeting March 24th. Heard he may be back skating. Is there any local intel as to whether he might be back playing sooner than what rotowire is showing of April 1st? Was so choked with how he got injured, kid was having an amazing season, he's a keeper for you guys going forward. Any intel would be hugely appreciated.
Thx :-> - Kevin R
They are saying he wont play on the 5 game homestand. I was told it will be determined if he can change direction and twist/turn etc...all he is doing is skating straight ahead!

Considering what happened to Pinto, they wont take any chance, and they should not. |

number 20 for the captain, he too could reach 30 |

Anton Forsberg could net OTT a 1st round pick from a desperate team, (like the leafs , Cambel injured and Mrazek got pulled tonight.) |

But that 1st round pick is going to be in the bottom 5 of the 1st round! But I do agree, a team desperate enough to overpay. I say the Caps and Vegas are in that category, Oilers too!

Oh and btw Smith said today that Murray is 'not close' to returning and destined for LTIR. More rationale for buying out MM. - Bartacus
I'm working on a Murray story again! But ya, best solution would be trade him and eat part of his salary instead of a buyout.

Yeah after reading a lot of peeps opinions on that subject I’m with ya , but I really don’t see it happening until after first 15/20 games next year 🤷♂️ It’s usually how they do it 🤦♂️ - sens4life1971
And the teams that do that, wait for 20 games usually dig to big a hole to get out of!

That would be the rational thing to do but why do I suspect it won't happen? I sometimes wonder if the reason Dorion is there is because he agrees to Melnyk's "suggestions" about how to manage the club, including who to trade for whom and who to sign for what. Otherwise wouldn't he be gone by now?
I could be way off here but as I recall when Melnyk first bought the club the Sens were favoured to win the Cup. How many years did it take that hockey genius to drive them so far into the ground that they missed the playoffs? Was it 5 or 6 years? - Whatisavailable
When he bought the team they were contenders for 5 or 6 years. But then not until like 2014 did you start to see some success again. As for PD, Melnyk knows he has his ear otherwise he wouldn't have got an extension with the amount of screw ups that have taken place!

Well stated as always sir. Trading for Grubauer just extends the issue - he's shown he's not great in front of a weaker team. Sure it might work out, but if it doesn't that extra term becomes a bigger headache and isn't worth the gamble. This coach has shown he's accepting of demoting Murray while overplaying Zaitsev, which is why I suggested buying out Zaitsev, but that can be fixed by simply replacing the coach with someone who will play NZ where he belongs, not where his salary suggests he should be slotted. The issue for Dorion is that buying out any of these players looks bad on him as he's the guy who brought all those contracts to bear. He's gotta weigh the gambles and figure it out - not an enviable position to be in, but he does have the head case, injury, and track record excuse for Melnyk in buying out Murray, whereas Zaitsev has been healthy and playing minutes, albeit not to the standard we might hope or expect. - Bartacus
Well said! He needs to figure out how to get rid of both problems. One via trade, like Murray and eat part of his salary but buyout NK! Or send him down to Belleville, like I said, Eugene was fine with 8 million down in the AHL. He still needs to figure out MDZ. I cant figure out for the life of me why he hasn't been brought up right now against some of the weaker teams!!

I’m only on board to buy out White if he struggles down the stretch. He has played adequately since returning. I’m still stuck in the mindset that he’s an injury prone player who only produced with Stone as a winger. If he can play well for 20+ games consistently, then his salary is much easier to swallow than Murray and Zaitsev. I did find the post I saw on Twitter about a White buy out interesting. Especially given who owns this team. It’s cheaper than Murray and Zaitsev but as I’ve learned on the board here, longer, which could pose a problem. However, teams really shouldn’t have to worry about buyouts as regularly as the Sens are seeing it.
Murray and Zaitsev are def more attractive buy out options from purely a “who wastes more roster room” perspective. There are numerous issues with Murray right now as opposed to Zaitsev just not being very good. So, from that perspective, Murray is def the odd man out.
Dorion has pulled deals to get crap contracts out. Dadanov to Vegas and Condon to Tampa, so maybe he can pull it off again for one guy and buying out another.
Incredibly important summer approaching if this team wants to take the next step. - Gord_Wilson_2.0
If he can pull another one out of his rear end then that would be great! But PD might have run out of rabbits as they say. Murray is the better buyout option but like I said in another reply, bury Zaitsev in the minors like MDZ and Murray earlier in the year.

I can see DJ starting Forsberg on Saturday against Chicago, but they need to get Gustavsson games too, he cant sit and not play. Start him Monday night against the Yotes! |

Ottawa is doing what the Sens did to Arizona on the weekend, down a bunch and blow the lead. Yikes Ottawa. I bet the under, that is out the window now. |

Gotta say think Kelly read your post about having no hockey IQ lol
He’s been really good out there throwing his body and agitating players along with scoring some good goals
Stutzle was horrible this game that whole line was brutal to watch DJ needs to get Gaudette off that line just not clicking with them
Norris is a pure sniper he’s definitely gonna make some 💰 on next contract
Tkachuk keeps leading the team what an absolute beauty he is
With the way Murray is made of glass I think they should keep Forsberg and do something with Murray maybe try a Forsberg/Gus combo next year |

Josh Brown on that 2nd Goal... basically just gave the puck to Seattle, lol. Get this guy off the ice.
Josh Brown is in the middle of this picture. Nobody is around him and Forsberg gives him the puck.
Josh Brown has the puck, and has full control of the puck. A Seattle player is coming, so he should pass soon... right?
This is where Josh Brown somehow loses the puck and it's now behind him. Brannstom tries to get it but gets out-muscled in the corner; Seattle gets control; Seattle scores. Waive Brown, trade Brannstrom. Good lord that was awful. Knowing DJ he'll blame Brannstrom for being weak on the puck.

I can tell you there a few in the org worried about Kelly's defensive play and overall hockey IQ. Its ok to agitate, run around etc...but he gets lost in space too much they say. Yes he has notched a few goals lately, but he has soooo much to work on. I hope he can learn those aspects of the game and continue grow but right now, he takes bad penalties and needs to stop the running around.
4 straight games with Gaudette, he's awful, flat out invisible! You would think after 4 games getting yop 6 minutes he would get it together, but man, DJ needs to change things up. This is where he fails as a coach, understand your players, some nights certain players are going, other nights they arent. I don't understand how Tyler Ennis continues to be a healthy scratch! So many passengers on this team on too many nights.

Love the pics to back it up even more with JBrown. He cant skate, he cant handle the puck, he's a defensive liability and worst of all he never boxes out with his size. 2 goals in the AZ came as a direct results of JBrown not boxing out or losing his man 10 feet from the net. The other problem is Brannstrom struggles as he cant do what he wants, knowing he has to hold back in the defensive zone because of JBrown. Again, DJ's failure to help a young prospect, he is ruining any value the asset had too. A fe times the camera panned to Pierre McGuire tonight, he was shaking his head after endless JBrown mistakes. Everyone else sees it but this ridiculous coach! Zaitsev is now holding Nick Holden back too, like enough is enough, scratch these 2 fools, put Brannstrom with Holden and lets the kids play or even put Heatherington in there! |
