This has the makings of a savage beating.

If Vegas hadn’t forgotten how to put the puck in the net lately the oil would be out of it.

I still think they miss but they’ve got some time left.

As a Flames fan, I hope that genius Kenny Holland stays for his full term. You can’t make these signings up, let’s not forget the 9+ mil 2nd pairing Nurse gets next year. I pity the fools that still have to continually cheer for this dysfunctional team. No closer than when they drafted Taylor over Tyler.

I say the Oiler miss the playoffs. Who would they knock out: Nashville, Minny, Dallas, Vegas? All four of those teams are better than the Oilers.

Time to overplay Koskinen again, because that has worked out well every time we have tried it!

What does Skinner have to do to actually play a string of games. He's been their best tender in the NHL, and his AHL numbers (a larger sample size) are fantastic.

Sounds like Paul Coffey will be joining the Oilers in some capacity.

Maybe he'll replace Gulutzan

We all heard the speculation from Friedman. He was a skills development coach from 2017-2020. If he is back as anything more than that this management team is worse than I even thought.
They need to fire every single person in management.

Well you self declared experts this was a good beating by the Oilers. Without the play of Samsonov this could have been a 5:2 game. Thats with 2 of the top 6 players out of the line-up. Turd go back to your loser team until you learn something..

Pretty strong game from the team. Largely controlled the play and bested a good but struggling Caps team. If only they could play this way against the bad teams.

I am starting to hate the way the 3rd period becomes a let the boys play/put the whistles away in tight games. Ovi going water skiing on Hyman or Mcd getting smothered in OT were both penalties earlier in the game. The non call on hyman ultimately led to to the tying goal.

as long as its consistent, i have no issue so either let it all go or stay the course.

I am usually not a ref bashing conspiracy theorist but that non hooking call on Ovechkin in the final minute of regulation was egregious. Game should never made it to overtime.

When the Nucks Drubbed the Flames 7-1 K-Man popped in to let us know it was the refs fault the Flames allowed 7 goals plus Markstrom had a 'skate issue' at 3-0 and had to be pulled lol. Solid analytics there...

It was pretty sad to see the non calls last night both ways however.

Gary's boy's usually are a bit more discreet as it gets closer to the final few weeks of the season. Just wait until a CDN team gets back to the conference finals or SCF...Quite noticeable then lol

How predictable.

Oilers win- Lardy is here chirping
Oilers lose- Lardy is here pumping Holland and the ole boys with his “minor blip! Hollands got this!”

Game management is the key for the officiating. They are instructed to be selective on what they call and usually not to allow one team to much of an advantage. Last night they wanted to keep it close so they didn't call the Ovi hook. They have no idea if the Caps will tie the game but its just giving them one last chance to do so. This type of officiating is very obvious when you attend in person.

I do attend a lot of Canes games in person. I've been to a half dozen this season alone and will be at tonight's game against the Avs. No offense to retired ref blogger Stewart but the quality of game management has deteriorated to 1980's WWE level. NHL needs to open their wallet and spend a little more to attract, train and retain quality officiating.

100%!

This is a major issue with the Oilers, playing down to their opponents, or taking a night off, whatever it is...they need to be close to the top of their game ALL OF THE TIME. This team has needed a bonafide leader for so long...I think the last one was Jason Smith.
