Next year if the team plays well no one will be ripping RR. Low hanging fruit guys on here. RR is a good NHL defenseman who brings a BADLY needed element to this team. He easily gets 5x5 on open market most likely would of got more so this is a good signing. CC needs to go to reset culture & they could be on the upswing - Fopa21
Oh my gawd. You read too much. Stop reading articles and press clippings.
Open your eyes what are you watching?
If it looks like poop, smells like poop…
This team isn’t going to play better next year.
Nobody was giving up 13th pick for risto plus some at trade time
Nobody was giving risto 5/5 contract at free agency
Fletcher doubling down ... its 5 x $5M which is what I predicted what Risto should get, so chalk up another right prediction for me! Suck on that @MJL! - jd250
Predicting that we would sign a mediocre d-man for that amount makes you happy ?
Setting that bar awfully low.
I will say this. It’s kinda nice to not have to defend this poop team anymore to friends who aren’t flyers fans. There’s no arguing or getting upset anymore.
Very nice to be able to agree and just laugh. It’s so much better coming to terms this team will never win cup in my lifetime is actually peaceful.

Yea, this doesn’t mean the end of Sanheim. Just dumb speculation. - ClaudeFather
For sure…I didn’t say that Dreger said it “was” going to happen. He and others wonder if it will be so.
don't have time to back read. I just dropped in to see if people are losing their poop. Honestly concerned that MJL may need medical attention after hearing about Risto signing.
I agree. The money in all is not the problem, it's the term. Contract length just stupid for most. - biggbear77
In all honesty if you have a youngerish team with true elite star players you can can afford a contract maybe even 2 possibly that are too high/too long. But when you stack these contracts without the elite talent and young elite talent you are just decades long (frank)ed
Not decade…DECADES (plural)
Mediocrity forever in sight.
Corp owned team gives 2 poops. Bottom line profit driven
Sad thing is Philadelphia fans aren’t smart enough to just walk away. You see it on all media sites. Defend and make excuses and optimistic til the death. That what these type teams count on.
People everywhere around world been laughing at flyers for years. Laughing even louder and harder lately. Surely they are wrong and philly is right.

It’s not just up to the Flyers, he’s UFA at end of this contract so he might not be in a rush to sign an extension. If he keeps playing like he has, more teams are going to want him than wanted Risto.
Speculating he’s going to be traded is reasonable.

NOW SING ALONG
- THE BLACK HAND
They started that thing before the game was even over the other night.
You are such a clown, no other way to put. You will do anything to crap all over Risto .. its sad! And your so wrong too, it makes no sense to break up your best defensive pairing. It should be this:
We've had this conversation before when I posted this defensive lineup previously. It has nothing to do with Ristlolainen. Braun is the best player to pair up with York. Sanheim is the next best player to play with Provorov. Get your act together.
The defense pairing you claim in the best got shredded for half of the 24 high danger chances the team gave up against Vegas.

Ya there is the UFA only being 16 months down the road.
I do believe the team is playing better, more structured, but clearly now its less about the system and more about the lack of talent of the players. Regarding the culture, if you have not already, I suggest you listen to a recent post game presser from Mike Yeo or check out Jason Myrtetus' podcast last weekend, where he really broke down what Mike Yeo was talking about. The key phrase from Yeo was "There is a big difference between being a good teammate and being a good guy". This is the root of the Flyer's culture problem for years now, in fact Yeo mentioned in his presser he is the 4th head coach that has tried to address this. A good guy never goes out of his way to criticize another teammate. A good teammate is not afraid to tell another teammate, even his best friend, that he needs to step it up, play better, etc. Think about this in the context of signing Kevin Hayes and then bringing in Hayes' buddies Atkinson and Keith Yandle. Add that to what we already know about Giroux's leadership style which is also to never criticize and then also add in the statements from Braun earlier this year where he mentioned how this team needs to have the accountability that his San Jose Sharks team had with Jon Thornton as the captain. Put it all together and its clear what is going on with this team! - jd250
