Fletcher doubling down ... its 5 x $5M which is what I predicted what Risto should get, so chalk up another right prediction for me! Suck on that @MJL! - jd250
Parroting what you hear from sources is not making a prediction.
We've had this conversation before when I posted this defensive lineup previously. It has nothing to do with Ristlolainen. Braun is the best player to pair up with York. Sanheim is the next best player to play with Provorov. Get your act together.
The defense pairing you claim in the best got shredded for half of the 24 high danger chances the team gave up against Vegas. - MJL
Agreed. Risto should be paired with York. 12 minutes a night for risto 15 for York (accounting for York pp time)

It’s comical to me some of the same people hating this contract are against tanking. If Comcast didn’t care so much about the gate you don’t have this contract. - ClaudeFather
I think this is way off base. It's got nothing to do with the gate. Do you believe that re-signing Ristolainen helps the gate? What does it have to do with tanking? What it has to do with is incompetence and a GM that is afraid for his job.
He’s not going to be fired. He does everything ownership asks him to do. The problem starts with Comcast - hereticpride
Hahahahaha. Just learned. Ha ha ha.
No: the problem starts with the fan base. This is the dumbest, most bovine organization in all of sports. It drips at best of mediocrity and often worse in every single aspect: in their failure to carpe diem when analytics data explodes in volume, in the systems of their coaches, their GMs, their public persona, their braindead loyalty to past players, their decision making going forward, their stupid mascot, their arena "experience" etc. etc. There is not one thing about this organization, not one, that carries a whiff of intelligence about it.
And when I tune in to the Flyers -Hawks game, what do I see? Mostly a full arena for a meaningless game with one team playing out the end of a dynasty and another that stopped being a joke decades ago. Why are there so many people? People should have long tuned out by now, so that Comcast realizes that the only way to increase revenue is to improve product.
I am sure Dave Scott wonders that too. He probably giggles: Dang. How come I get so lucky and have so many dumbasses that shell out with such loyalty? Gee, I dunno. But I don't have to do anything except ride the gravy train hard.
And so he is doing just that. Why you hating on Comcast? You think what they are doing is so shortsighted? Hell no. Look around you. We are getting exactly what we deserves.

If you sit back and assess this team, you would realize (which I think you do) it’s Franked. It’s time to start over, tear it down. Signing guys like Hayes, Ellis and Risto keeps that playoff sniff alive which keeps fans in the building.
Predicting that we would sign a mediocre d-man for that amount makes you happy ?
Setting that bar awfully low. - Angus4444
He didn't predict anything. He read the scuttlebutt and claimed it for his own. Podcast, blogs, tweets, etc are the sole basis for all of his posting. He parrots what he hears and then posts it.

I’m not sure it does keep the playoff sniff alive. If we have a repeat of this year, we’ll be in the same place.
Does anyone know if rr was given a nmc? I expect he wasn’t. So I guess there’s a positive. If he and the team are terrible next year, then you’re able to move him at a better rate than you’d get this year for a rental.
don't have time to back read. I just dropped in to see if people are losing their poop. Honestly concerned that MJL may need medical attention after hearing about Risto signing. - Dkos
This is like the 3rd comment along this line. It was completely expected. The organization is incompetent and this is just further proof of that. The GM knows his ass is on the line and with the injury issues with Ellis. Braun likely being gone. If Ristolainen is traded that leaves a potential grand canyon hole on the right side of the defense. That situation could cost him his job so he makes this decision. This is just more of what you get when you put the team in the position it is in. It's forced to make moves rather than being in a position to make the right moves at the right times.

I hope it doesn’t but those things coupled with whatever happens in this off season, that’s what we are looking at. Did the GM and CEO not just say they are retooling and think this team is close?
