He talked about unfortunately that Hextall failed. He said the execution obviously failed under Hextall but in concept was the closest the Flyers ever been to being somewhat modern. He essentially eluded to Hextall being economically responsible in regards the cap & assets. He alluded to Hextall acquiring bad players but at least not paying an arm & leg to do so. He said for example he doubts Hextall would have traded nor signed Ristolainen for those prices if he was GM still.

He mentioned how Hextall shut out voices within the organization that quite frankly need be shut out. He said the Flyers are headed back if they weren’t already to the times of being fiscally irresponsible & aggressive like they were with Ristolainen.

He mentioned how the Flyers have people in their brain trust that still don’t truly understand the salary cap. When you make a horrible investment you’re married to it. You can’t just outspend in other areas to make up for it like you could 25+ years ago but some don’t seem to grasp that still. The unfortunate part of today’s NHL is that you can keep everybody. You have to make tough decisions & some times let go of players that you even like.

It doesn't but Fletcher's job is on the line. This is less dangerous than having a hole in the defense. This is the issue with the win now mentality. With giving a mandate. Instead of doing the right thing and being patient, your GM knows he is on the hot seat and that he has to get something done.

Subtract G next year and the increase to Farabee and Couts negates it. If their big plan is to throw a "blank check" at JG, they wont be able to fit him or fill out the roster. This leaves overpaying ala ghost to trade JVR or worse, buy him out.

Fletch is a disaster

I would argue that he’s not actually “on” the pp. that would imply that we actually have a pp which we don’t.

All but Braun, yes. Hayes is easily worst contract on the team. Not sure Ellis counts lol he doesn’t play
