Geez. Looked like he hurt his knee too. That was ugly

His head hit the ice pretty hard.

Clean hit IMO. Just an unfortunate result.

G is a big part of the culture issues on this team, but its not his fault, its just his personality. G is the type of player that takes care of himself and leads by example, he does confront players, its just not his way. When other players come into the locker room and see the captain does not say anything, they will keep quiet also. That is the problem IMO with this team, as Yeo states, good teammates are very different than good guys.
- jd250

Any claim that Giroux is a reason in any way for any perceived culture issue is simply asinine. Your claim that other players keep quiet because Giroux does is false on both levels. Yeo is probably a good guy but he is a bad coach.

Yep. He was moving pretty fast when he was hit. Just fell awkwardly and smacked his head. Didn’t like the way his knee bent either.

Hope Laughts is OK, but that was an awesome hit by Lindholm.

I outlined a bunch of reasons earlier today. G is only part of the issue in that its his leadership style. But when you compound that with other factors, like Hayes being signed and bringing in all his buddies, you can see how this starts to build up. I think Yeo is a good hockey coach, maybe not a good NHL head coach based on some of the decisions he has made, but he would be a great AHL head coach and I think is an excellent NHL assistant coach.

You know you just described Steve Yzerman, Joe Sakic, Mike Modano, Steven Stamkos, Sidney Crosby, and Jonathan Toews too right?

I don't know if I did or not, really not up on their leadership styles. I do believes G's leadership style is a bad match for this group.

Is there only one leader on a hockey team? Is it different on a good team versus a bad team? If Giroux was a vocal leader who got in players faces, would that change anything? Change the lack of talent that you're always talking about.
I think I'm going to start a daily report entitled silly things said by JD250.
The best one today was that the Flyers issues aren't with the defense and that it's the offense that is the issue. Because you know, only forwards contribute to offensive play.

The problem isn't with G's leadership style, it's with management for icing an uncompetitive team. If you really want to talk about leadership issues, how about management never replacing Simmer in the room? He was the guy who would stand up so the captain didn't have to expend all his political capital when the games didn't matter yet.

Nice to see CC continuing his solid play over the last 10 games when it matters trying to up trade value.

Leading by example 👏

I would prefer they not yo-yo him. If he isn’t going to be up on a scoring line with a vet, don’t do it.

Ok, good points. But once Simmer was traded and there really was not any one to pick up the mantle, IMO it was G to change his style and pick that piece up, and I just don't think its in him to do that. Look I love G, I just think it was a mistake to make his captain, he would so much better as just a really good player and good guy in the room.

I typically am not either, but Yandle just brings this out in me, he just Sucks so bad, he got me wishing Myers was back on the team ...

It's absurd to say that Giroux should've changed his style once Simmonds left.

Apparently you are. Just another in an avalanche of poorly thought out comments.
