Hockey is a 20 man team sport. The Captaincy is just a letter. Claude Giroux and James Van Riemsdyk are the only players to see a Stanley Cup final on this team. Giroux being a major contributor in that run. I guess this goes unnoticed because he wasn’t wearing the “C” at the time.

Of course they didn’t build the team around him to the extend needed but I also an not letting him off the hook for those team results. He has historically been a slow starter most of his career ( even in junior) and that tendency has continued to this day. I don’t think he should have been named caption it should have been Kimmo Timonen. He could have grow into it a better leader but he was given the responsibility too early.
