Of course they didn’t build the team around him to the extend needed but I also an not letting him off the hook for those team results. He has historically been a slow starter most of his career ( even in junior) and that tendency has continued to this day. I don’t think he should have been named caption it should have been Kimmo Timonen. He could have grow into it a better leader but he was given the responsibility too early. - Hosher12
You haven't made a very compelling case. In fact the facts you offered previously argue against your point. One more question. You stated that Giroux is not a good choice as a captain on a contending team. Has Giroux ever captained a team that was a true contender? I'm attempting to lead you to a simple logical deduction.

Hahahhahaha
That’s exactly the point. It doesn’t go unnoticed that he contributed heavily without the C. Got paid got term got the C & CC was born. - Fopa21
what did they call you were getting paid to play? |

Giroux had a 102 point season, second in the league that season with the “C”. - SuperSchennBros
WOW! He was torching the league that year. He must of had an amazing playoffs!
-10 in 6 games first round exit. I’m sure it wasn’t his fault tho that he disappeared |

It makes me so mad we never signed DuClair. Anyone could have had him. |

Giroux was one of the active playoff points leaders in his youth for a number of seasons, including seeing a Stanley cup final. |

Yeah, the matching one you sleep in with the number 21 on the back. We all know the weight the “C” is on players. A lot of good it did for forsberg. |

Tobias Harris needs to stop being invisible as well. - MBFlyerfan
Given the circumstances and context, you could argue this is the type of game Doc Rivers could get fired over. It’s the second game this season against playoff team you’ve gotten blown out. If they don’t make a deep run, Rivers is as good as gone. |

Hockey is a 20 man team sport. The Captaincy is just a letter. Claude Giroux and James Van Riemsdyk are the only players to see a Stanley Cup final on this team. Giroux being a major contributor in that run. I guess this goes unnoticed because he wasn’t wearing the “C” at the time. - SuperSchennBros
Having the C definitely has more pressure to it. Claude was a major price of that run. I feel sorry for Claude because I believe he was given the captaincy too soon and he was not ready for it. His personality is more even keeled and is too accepting of ok results. He is driven individually driven but was didn’t know who to drive others.
Not his fault but I’m sure it’s hard to turn down the offer to be captain.
The Flyers have missed managers most of the young talented players even to this day. How they are handling Frost, York, Ratcliffe are a few current examples of asking too much of young players too soon.
This organization is not heading in a good direction. |

The myths surrounding the captaincy and about Giroux in terms of the captaincy are really mind boggling.

Martin Jones played in a final too.
Yes, G played in a final for the Flyers & was a major contributor with something to prove. Then he was passed the torch got $ & term & turned into CC |

Weird is the lengthy list of players, coaches, GMs that everyone wanted to run out of town/have left & yet here we are w the same results & it’s still not the constants fault. That’s weird. Unless you guys are all CC burner accounts. CC the KD of the NHL |
