Just shows how clueless you are. Do you think his analytics were doing him in when supposedly 8 teams were willing to pony up for him? - ClaudeFather
There is a difference between ponying up a late first round pick and then extending the player. Fletcher almost had to extend Risto if the price was right given what he gave up, which as Fletcher stated was the highest pick available to Buffalo in exchange for Risto. My point here is not that teams would not want Risto, its more about what they would be willing to do to extend him. I'm sure a lot of teams would take Risto on a 5 x $5M deal. |

So when does news drop of a partial NTC or NMC? Truly a player of Risto's caliber deserves it.
Chuck is the master negotiator. - StepfordSam
The NTC/NMC is the only thing that scares me...if there is none then it is still possible they trade him. Otherwise it is all dependent on the health of Ellis next year. |

Lol. Are you a paid consultant for Fletcher? If so, you should disclose that conflict of interest. - Minnyhock
So in your mind if I don't come on this forum and spew hatred for this franchise, ownership, leadership and players I must be working for Fletcher?? |

If close to $5M per, I can live with Risto on this team. Think about it, you walk into next season with Ellis/Provorov, Sanheim/Risto and a better 3rd pairing, say York/Attard or York/FA the defense will be significantly better. Big assumption here is Ellis stays healthy for the most part. - jd250
5 MIL RIGHT TERM, I AM OK, as long as there is a real plan to have quality 6 D and depth. Risto slotted right brings value. |

Two totally different players - ClaudeFather
In theory both second pairing dmen. So comparison certainly applicable. |

It’s really not that bad of a contract. - ClaudeFather
Big, physical right handed d man. Moves very well for a big guy. Solid transition out of his own end. 4 40 +point seasons under his belt….top 5 in hits. Entering his prime years. Contract is actually very fair for both sides. |

The reload is going exactly as planned. The pieces are slowly falling into place. Now they just need to get another elite piece or two and they will be right back into the thick of things next season.
The best thing is Chuck still has resources at his disposal to maximize the roster and compete NEXT year! He is going to wheel and deal this team back to glory, which wasn't that long ago by the way.
This stretch is but a blip in the road. The Flyers are the Gold Standard. Just ask my buddy Phil. He was at the finals back in 1975 when he was 40 years old. He knows a winner when he sees one. And I trust the hockey people. |

They’re polarizing so it’s an automatic comparison when their playing style is vastly different? |

Sanheim is a wimp. I want to see him off this team too. He doesn't even hit people. No room on this team for someone that doesn't stand up for their teammates.
That isn't how winning is done. |

I think the playing style is more similar than you think. They both seem to excel at allowing the opponent access to prime scoring chances. That's all that matters in the end.

Not sure if Im a fan of that or not. The only thing I dislike about Sanheim is the lack of Muscle. Im not really sure I understand why the signing means Sanheim is gone when they play opposite sides
