How old was he when he was named captain? Aside from Miller there wasn't a better player on this team to be named captain.

What was the rush to name a captain?

If you had to name someone Edler would have been a good choice, transitional. Possibly Tanev.

Obviously there was no rush because they just went a whole season without naming one before they chose Bo...

I think the theme was probably picking someone younger to go with the young core that had been just drafted...

Rushed? I’m not sure…

Horvat has long shown something a little special, Sedin said before Wednesday’s game.

"Most of the young guys who come in, they’re good hockey players, they want to score or they want to play well," the former captain said. "But then there’s some guys who have that extra dimension to them. They see more of a big picture and you can see that they think differently than most guys. And he’s been one of them, for sure."

He was the best the Canucks had when Horvat was selected. Miller hadn't even played a game yet and had a less than favorable rep when he showed up. So here we are... no one would care about what he lacks as a leader if a C wasn't sewn on his jersey.

It’s fine, today’s captains are not what they were years ago because they don’t have to be, it’s a different role. Today’s captains are typically your best players who lead the team offensively.

Could have gone with Brandon Sutter.

Flyers going full on tank.

What a pathetic group. Can't believe some think Giroux is going to get that organization a ransom. The guy has been irrelevant for a decade.

If Bruins win and LEAFS lose, that put the Leafs only 3 points out of that first wildcard spot that the Bruins are in.

He’s like Lemieux (greatest of all time), Gretzky, Yzerman or Sakic….a generational player. The only reason they’re competitive at all is primarily because of him.

They’re a hot mess. Looks good on Dave Scott, he’s ruining that franchise. They need a complete tear-down but he won’t allow it.

I was in the leafs thread a few days ago and a bunch of them were saying that the leafs were purposely losing for better playoff draw.

Reading the attached article, it sounds like this guy is like Leafs fans, winning the October cup. He sounds rather entitled if you ask me.

They’re losing because their d and tending are trash.

I don’t know what’s going on the last bit. Coyotes scoring at will and Vegas and Colorado can’t score.
