meh. I agree we are obviously better with him than without him but I’m not sure that he’s the answer to our problems, especially at what it will cost to get him. We need a winger for Panarin and strome, and we need a 3rd line. An upgrade over nemeth is fine but only if it doesn’t come at the expense of addressing the first 2

Collectively this board is too wrapped up in that. This year right now it’s an issue. It’s not permanent. Nothing a rental can’t fix. That should t matter in a trade like this. He’s a core player you’d be adding

Oddly, it would take future assets in order to complete this deal. The question for Drury is, does he truly feel the team is close? If he does, he doesn’t make this deal. Instead, Using his assets to acquire rentals. If he feels the defense still needs an upgrade going forward he makes the deal. Players like this do not become available that often, especially with a cap friendly salary and term.

IMO not a top 6 player. Third liners definitely. But I think the main problem with this team is their defensive play. Too many quality shots and quality chances. Second problem is that the third and forth line has produced ugatz! Would we even be talking about trading Chytil if he was producing more, if JG actually buried some of his chances??

Trading assets now on a team that has too many problems is like throwing them away, unless its a good hockey trade or a player like Stastny that would just cost lower picks.
