What makes it worse is it is MacDonald all over again....spend way too much to acquire a very mediocre defense then re-sign to justify the cost. What is the definition of insanity (or stupidity in tis case) - mr4tno
AMac traded for Matt Mangene, Philadelphia's 3rd round pick (Ilya Sorokin) in 2014 NHL Draft and Philadelphia's 2nd round pick (later traded to Boston -- Boston selected Brandon Carlo)

And now I just read that Friedman thinks provorov is on his way out and possibly sanheim as well?!
Wtf?!
If this isn't a full on tank move I don't know what is.
Every core player has regressed the last few seasons. Every single one. And now there are rumors that CF is going to ship out two of our top 4 D after signing RR to that extension?!
I love the flyers but for my own mental health and stability I may be done watching them for quite a while... These next 3 seasons are going to hurt worse than any season I can recall.
Eda death has destroyed this once proud franchise. Comcast is Garbage ownership. Bobby and Homey need to go and go far far away and take CF and Dave Scott with them. Gut this franchise starting with the terds at the top - Bob Habib
I know where you are coming from, but on the other hand keeping what obviously does not work is just as worse.
It all depends on what the Flyers can get back to improve. My location says it all and that was updated at least 4 years ago...where the Flyers are now was predictable many many years ago. They need to go back to the drawing board and figure out what they want to build instead of constantly trying to mush pieces together and hope it works.

Seeing a lot of chatter on Twitter about Provy being difficult and not a good teammate. Both team and player would be happy to part ways. Any truth to this? Can’t blame him for being unhappy with the state of things, but how you respond to adversity says a lot about a person. No denying he has not played well this year. |

Not only incompetence but a GM whose job is on the line and is making decisions based on that rather than what is best for the team long term. - MJL
Maybe his job isn't on the line.

My question is this now... Is provy purposefully playing bad hockey?! These mistakes he makes are horrendous ECHL level mistakes and after reading how unhappy he is maybe this is purposeful on his part.
If so that's really upsetting. I remember provy getting emotional after they lost a playoff series. It was one that he played hurt through, iirc,
I truly thought provy would be the future leader of this team but WOW have things changed quickly
I feel like they already pushed sanheim away with dragging out his contract extension and paying him "what they had left"
This is just a cluster fudge from top to bottom, with the exception of Hart. |

But does it not work because of the ineptitude of this franchise to properly develop players and put a cohesive team together or is it the player? Or in this case is it every player on the team or is it the franchise itself?!
If it was just one player not working out then sure... Pull that trigger! 100%
But when it's the entire team out on the ice it could mean that there is more going on than we know about
Either way, at this point, I'm with you on scrapping it and starting over. Not sure I keep RR as a staple on the blue line while trading sanheim and provy away but if they do that and commit to the tank we at least will have a couple of chances to grab a generational talent in the next few drafts |

unless it is from a legit source makes little sense to say that stuff now as would possibly hurt his return in a trade. If indeed looking to move him

Sounds more like the issue is that Provy is pointing the finger at everyone, but himself for his poor play. I don’t blame him for being unhappy with his situation. Management and coaching staff appear to be incompetent so it’s hard to blame the player for being unhappy, but he still needs to play better. I don’t have a problem with a player being a prima donna as long as he plays well. |

I remember when TK looked like he was having a blast playing. Not so much anymore. Maybe Provy feels the same way and I’m sure probably a few more. The writing is on the wall with this franchise. Don’t want to assume how the players view the franchise but if I was a younger player and I had UFA coming up , I think I would be looking for a situation where I would be used properly. A team that would get the best out of me. The guy I feel the worst for is Hart, I believe he’s easily a top 10 goalie. He’s under siege almost every game and how much longer can he take before he’s ruined. Just my 2 cents. |

The constant yo-yoing of Frost and York is just more damming evidence of the incompetence of Fletcher. Repeated talk of what is the best thing for the player only to call him right up when there is an I injury. This team is going nowhere. The development of young players should take precedence. Frost should've been up and centering a scoring line with good players and not sent down in the first place. - MJL
It’s total incompetence |

That seems like a strong signing to commit to the tank. Why else would they sign him for 5 years unless they plan to draft high over there next few years
Maybe they'll even put RR back on the top pairing here.... At least we have that to hope for! |

I know I am in the minority, but I am OK with the RR deal, all depending on what comes next.
I would have preferred they loaded up with with 3 firsts this year and 2 next, added back their seconds but we all knew that was not happening |

I agree with all of this. And I am also fine with a player being a prima Donna if he has the talent and skill to flex his feelings a little. Jack eichel comes to mind |

I like RR. But if they are talking about trading provy and sanheim but keeping RR then I have more questions than answers going forward.
If they ship both provy and sanheim out then then doesn't that make RR the top pairing guy? |

ZERO leadership in the room. Double dogit losing steaks. Prolonged goalless droughts for players. Kids regressing. Players being cry babies. Players leaving town than performing well.
I guess it makes more sense to blame the 6 different coaches & 3 different GMs than the 1 constant lazy bumm whose created a culture of garbage. |

Rumors are rumors, why I said, depending on what is next. I don’t think they move either, unless it brings back a right side D to balance the 6 |

It's simple, they're going to go all out in free agency if they can obtain cap space. I used to get excited during the day knowing there was a Flyers game on at night. I used to anticipate October, waiting for the season to start. Now I find myself getting bored watching a game.
