Team needs to get bigger, had trouble with the more physical Blues and Wild and played better against the less physical Stars and Jets. |

Paquette is a no brainer move. He used to play with Goodrow in TB and that can put a bandaid on the loss of Rooney on the 4th line.
The Rangers then need to decide whether or not they want to make the big splash (Hertl, Kane) or they want to make 3-4 small/medium moves (Copp, Crouse, Rakell, Stastny, Jarnkrok) or some sort of combination of the 2. - aecliptic
Since when has that been an option???

Didn’t say it definitely was. But if aiming big, that’s big. |

The swagger we had after coming back last night was something to watch! Hope they can hold onto that for a while. |

An option? Always. Probability of it happening? Small.
When Kane said he wants to finish his career with the Hawks, hes saying what any normal professional athlete would say. Reading between the lines here, Im thinking it means he will not ask the team to trade him, hes happy regardless. The tough pill to swallow in a trade for Kane would be what it costs to acquire him.
So much weighs on the plans for Strome and Strome's plans for the future. |

If they get Kane it will cost enough for the Hawks to retain a lot of his salary, so start with Kakko to open a spot on Panarin's line and keep adding. If it's the move that keeps Panarin playing like he did last night it will be worth it. |

It would have to be 50% retained.
Then you gotta decide where to go with the lineup after the season is over because Strome is gone. Im thinking stop-gap veteran C coming off one of his better years in a while, Paul Stastny. Would be cheap, excellent on faceoffs, would definitely fit between Panarin and Kane. This would allow us a little freedom with the 3rd line, such that if we trade for Jarnkrok we could resign him to a cheap 1 year extension. We would be looking at...
Kreider, Zib, LAF
Panarin, Stastny, Kane
Jarnkrok, Barron, Blais
Goodrow, Rooney, Reaves
We have to be very cautious about who we bring in as well as the AAV/term. Because depending on the contracts that Kakko and Blais sign... youre looking at needing to potentially resign LAF, Kakko, Miller, Blais, Barron, Jones |

Whats the obsession with Dach? You trying to replace one under-performing top 3 pick with another? I didnt think it was possible but Dach is even worse at faceoffs than Chytil. |

Kakko and Blais will sign qualifying offers, due to injuries. Their $ won't be too bad |

Thats fine, but if its only for 1 year, it potentially compounds the financial burden on this franchise in 2 years. You cant just say fk it figure it out later. Carelessness comes at a cost. |

I think the 2nd line needs someone like Crouse on it come playoffs. I’ve noticed that line struggles against bigger/more physical teams. Kakko/Chytil/X could be the 3rd line and I think we need an upgrade from Hunt/McKegg/Gauthier/Brodzinski/whoever on the 4th line. |

Your obsession with Crouse is rivalling that of TPC/Kreider.
The second line struggles because every team/defense knows that Hunt is a non-factor. its essentially 5v4 every time they step on the ice. Its got nothing to do with bigger/physical teams.
Chytil needs to go, and should be part of a package that brings Crouse here if thats what the team does. Crouse, Jarnkrok, Kakko could be a very formidable 3rd line. Then Id go after Stastny, move Strome to RW and have Panarin, Stastny, Strome as the 2nd line. Youve now got 4 lines at a fairly minimal expense.
Another guy to consider is Maxime Comtois. Not nearly as physical as Crouse, but has become the odd man out in Anaheim with the emergence of all these young kids there. |

I disagree completely about the 2nd line not struggling against more physical teams. We know Hunt is a problem on that line but I’ve noticed the more physical teams play that 2nd line the more they struggle.
Comtois is someone I’ve liked for a little while but haven’t followed, he’s having a down year so he might be had for cheap for the 4th line. |

When the 2nd line goes out there, its 5 on 4, theres nothing they can do. Once they double team Strome or Panarin, the flow stops. They dont have to cover Hunt. Theyre not "more physical" theyre just more aggressive defensively because they know that theres no danger in leaving Hunt. Chances are he will be out of position or miss a pass anyway.
Ive said it loads of times this year that teams dont seem to be afraid of Panarin, and a lot of the reason is because they can afford to be aggressive and double team him. |

Not much used to keep putting Barron’s name into a line up , apparently he’s not in the future plans with the current head coach |

If they plan to make the "big" splash, theyll need his ELC in the lineup. |

We have just a shade over a week until the trade deadline.
Hopefully this holding pattern finally breaks and we seem some activity and improvements.
Im really hoping that Drury is making calls. |
