We have just a shade over a week until the trade deadline.
Hopefully this holding pattern finally breaks and we seem some activity and improvements.
Im really hoping that Drury is making calls. - aecliptic
He’s making a ton of calls, but the names coming from the other end of the phone are, Kakko, Schneider, Laf,…it’s not Chytil, Nils, Jones. That’s Drury’s dilemma. He’ll have to wait it out and hope the prices drop. |

I think youre right, I think the market hasnt yet really started to hit peak, everything is still touch and go.
I just hope its not trades just for the sake of making a trade. |

Yeah people need to realize he's definitely talking to other teams. Look out west, it's not as defined as if is in the east of who are sellers and the east will always be higher cost |

Pavelski signed a 1 year extension for $5.5.
There goes that idea. May also drive Stromes price up if there are fewer UFA centers this summer. |

Not enough.
Problem is : this was a high profile, outdoor game for the NHL. They have to give him something. The refs blew it by only calling coincidental minors on Matthews and Dahlin.
He should get 3 games IMO, but DoPS sucks, so he'll only get 1 game... |

Meh. It’s not overly terrible. 2 max. Def should get one at least (which is what he’ll probably get)
Reminds me of the Dave Brown / Sandstrom incident if you remember that one from the 80s. That was way worse than this tho |

He didn't even knock him over. Dahlin didn't even stop being the aggressor. Looked worse than it was, IMO. I doubt he gets anything. |

I do remember the Dave Brown incident. As I said, the problem for the league on this incident today is that it took place during a highly publicized outdoor game. Lots of viewers on a national broadcast. You can't have players ( albeit "star" players ) crosschecking other "star" players across the neck/head. This was no accident. Matthews was frustrated and angry and he lost his temper. Gotta do the time for the crime, even if its only 1 game...

He made it well known he didnt want to leave Dallas, and Im sure he gave them a bit of a discount to help them with signings. He could have easily got 7m again with his play this year. |

It was recently reported the Rangers have inquired about the availability of Kane, but shut down by the Hawks as they will meet with him and Toews at season end to see what thier plan is for thier final year of the contract.
I would think if the Rangers get him it would be huge assets going to 2 teams to get Kane's salary cut twice to fit him in next season.
That would be sick if we did get him on the cheap to play with Panarin and whatever center we want. |

They dont need to do that, they can fit 50% of his contract. However it results in the Rangers letting Strome walk. |

But if they get a Arizona to eat half as well and we get Kane @ 1/4 of the salary we keep Strome as well as have the $$$ for LAF as well.
I would give up a lot for a year, two or three of that line up, with possible more after a resign on the cheap to match Panarin's contract.
CK20 ZIB LAF
BREAD STROME P. KANE
Goodrow Barron Blais
4th line of......whomever

I personally hope there is no trades announced until trade deadline day so there can be a block buster or two or three on the actual day and not the days leading up to it, there for leaving nothing left on the day that is almost a national holiday in Canada. |

A. It's a superstar in Matthews

C. Both players engaged |

I keep thinking how important teams value center and how important it is to have two bonafide ones in order to win the cup. We have Zib, but Is Strome that 2nd guy? That’s the decision above all they have to make this deadline. Because if it isn’t him, you trade for Hertl, or Schiefele (less likely), and move on from Strome no questions asked after this season. Hertl is a better all around player imo and I think the org would view him to be that aswell.
Now it just comes down to who they get, but I think that’s who it will be, Hertl. It’s gonna cost them but it’ll be worth it once he’s a core Ranger. But this is the next decision staring Drury in the face
Hertl and Jarnkrok are my guys now |

Welcome to the dark side.
As long as the Hertl trade core part is a 1st and Chytil, without too much additional, it would be perfect for us.
But we would need a bit more. Goodrow and Jarnkrok would make up a solid new 3rd line and GG needs to put Barron between them. But now we gotta update the 4th and Carpenter would be perfect there. Hunt can be relegated to 4th line LW duties where hes supposed to be until Rooney comes back. Maybe Kulak as an inexpensive support D.
In an ideal world, this is how Id see it work out the next year:

Seeing a strong rumor:
We get Rakell and Hampus Lindholm
Ducks get -Nils, Kravtsov, Nemeth, picks
I can’t figure out how to copy and paste it but:
“ While this proposed move won’t solve all the Blueshirts’ issues, it could pay tremendous dividends. Assuming Kaapo Kakko returns from his Upper Body injury for the playoffs, Rackell should help solidify the 3rd line. Lindholm has played top pair defensive minutes since entering the league as a 20-year-old and would undoubtedly bolster the young blueline. Both Lindholm and Rackell are UFA’s after this season.
The Ducks are also in town to play the Rangers on Tuesday night, so maybe Lindholm and Rakell just need to walk down the hall to a different locker room Tuesday night.
More details to follow on this week’s upcoming bonus episode of New York Paingers Podcast; you won’t want to miss it. |
