Seeing a strong rumor:
We get Rakell and Hampus Lindholm
Ducks get -Nils, Kravtsov, Nemeth, picks - Slimtj100
Where’s the rumor from? I like Lindholm, sucks to lose Kravtsov, kid is going to be a stud but the relationship here is beyond repair I think. |

Depends what the picks are. Krav and Nemeth dont really matter.
I really dont want Lindholm, his added cost to the trade doesnt make sense for us. There are plenty of steady defensemen that wont cost as much as he will |

This trade doesn’t kill us by any means tho. What are we losing? Someone we won’t use and someone who doesn’t wanna be here. And cap dump |

Have to be careful trading guys just to trade them. Trading Kravtsov is going to be like when WSH traded Forsberg for Erat. |

This is the whole rumor I found:
Rangers General Manager Chris Drury has been patiently waiting for a track to explode on and teams to announce themselves as buyers or sellers. As we inch closer to the March 21st trade deadline, the Anaheim Ducks are getting close to officially announcing themselves as sellers.
New York is entering the deadline with heaps of cap space and an endless amount of possibilities. Before their young roster talent leaves their entry-level contracts, Drury could make a significant move for a Stanley Cup run. The potential deal that is being discussed would send forward Rickard Rakell and defensive stalwart Hampus Lindholm to the Big Apple for a run at the Cup. The players and or picks going to Disney Land would center around Nils Lundqvist, Vitali Kravtsov, and two current roster players. One of the two roster players rumored would be Patrik Nemeth. This would create much-needed salary cap room for next season and open up a slot on defense immediately for Gallant to shuffle his left-shot defensemen around. Draft picks are in play, but there is nothing definitive on that front yet.
Proposed Trade:
To Ducks: Nils Lundqvist, Vitali Kravstov, Patrick Nemeth, Player to be named, and picks
To Rangers: Hampus Lindholm and Rikard Rakell
While this proposed move won’t solve all the Blueshirts’ issues, it could pay tremendous dividends. Assuming Kaapo Kakko returns from his Upper Body injury for the playoffs, Rackell should help solidify the 3rd line. Lindholm has played top pair defensive minutes since entering the league as a 20-year-old and would undoubtedly bolster the young blueline. Both Lindholm and Rackell are UFA’s after this season.
The Ducks are also in town to play the Rangers on Tuesday night, so maybe Lindholm and Rakell just need to walk down the hall to a different locker room Tuesday night.
More details to follow on this week’s upcoming bonus episode of New York Paingers Podcast; you won’t want to miss it.

But what’s the alternative? Do nothing? Let him rot in Russia?lol.

Welcome to the dark side.
As long as the Hertl trade core part is a 1st and Chytil, without too much additional, it would be perfect for us.
But we would need a bit more. Goodrow and Jarnkrok would make up a solid new 3rd line and GG needs to put Barron between them. But now we gotta update the 4th and Carpenter would be perfect there. Hunt can be relegated to 4th line LW duties where hes supposed to be until Rooney comes back. Maybe Kulak as an inexpensive support D.
In an ideal world, this is how Id see it work out the next year:

I swear, i wont say anymore on this topic beyond this post.
Rakell would be a fantastic acquisition, one of the ideal pick ups for us because I feel theres a possibility to resign him. However, we need one more player for that third line, we need a center my player of choice is Jarnkrok. At the very least this allows the team to move Chytil to LW. Im a huge fan of Barron, but I feel having an experienced player in there is incredibly crucial for the playoffs. In the event of an injury, we know we can rely on Barron to jump in there and be a solid player. Plan B, gotta say, Stastny is having quite the year and could be a nice addition as a 3rd line rental. 15g 12a, 57% on faceoffs. Could make the case that maybe he could be a better pickup than Jarnkrok.
Theres a couple caveats to resigning Rakell. 1. Strome's contract extension. 2. Getting rid of Nemeth's contract. 3. Trading Chytil. 4. How much will Kakko get in his extension? Essentially the combined contracts of Nemeth and Chytil would pay for Rakell.

If its just Nils, Krav, Nemeth and lets say Gauthier without any picks going to Anaheim, I can live with it.
I just worry about making trades for nothing but rentals. Losing Nils for players who will ultimately be non-roster players long term hurts.
Also, if we make this trade, I find it hard to believe that we then go after Hertl. |

Lindholm and Rakell will both be rentals and we’ll watch Kravtsov develop into a 65 pt player and Nils be a 50 pt defenseman running a PP. I’d rather trade guys like that for other young players, not guys that will play 40 games for us and we never see them again. |

Krav has little to no value for us unfortunately. He doesnt want to play here, every GM in the league knows this. We take what we can get there. |

But again, we can’t sit on our hands. We’ve been ranting and raving lol
In no way does this trade set them back. No way no how. I think it would have mention the first rder being involved. That’s when I’d be pissed. If they’re getting our first |

I keep thinking how important teams value center and how important it is to have two bonafide ones in order to win the cup. We have Zib, but Is Strome that 2nd guy? That’s the decision above all they have to make this deadline. Because if it isn’t him, you trade for Hertl, or Schiefele (less likely), and move on from Strome no questions asked after this season. Hertl is a better all around player imo and I think the org would view him to be that aswell.
Now it just comes down to who they get, but I think that’s who it will be, Hertl. It’s gonna cost them but it’ll be worth it once he’s a core Ranger. But this is the next decision staring Drury in the face
Hertl and Jarnkrok are my guys now - Slimtj100
That's a good idea. Pick top two realistic acquisitions NYR make at deadline

You know Im the last person to consider the sit on our hands thing. However, I think we can do more with what we have. Rakell (or Kakko) playing with Chytil centering the third line is still not a good 3rd line. Goodrow, Jarnkrok, Rakell is a kick arse third line. However we gotta figure out what were doing with Chytil. |

I betcha Rakell takes hunts spot and is the sniper for Panarin
Eventually
Someone- Chytil - Kakko is the 3rd line |

Thats not a good starting point for a “new” 3rd line. Id rather go get Jarnkrok and Stastny as rentals and play Jarkrok, Stastny, Kakko. |
