I believe people have extremely unrealistic views of what to expect from a 4th line (Rooney, Reaves). Im not expecting these guys to score. These guys are out there to cause turn overs, hit, frustrate the opposition, in many cases play against other teams best players and set up possession for the next line out.
Gauthier I have no explanation for. Just dont get it. - aecliptic
Didn't say I expect them to score (much); I give them credit for creating (in tandem with the d-men) as many chances as they consistently get. The utter lack of finish by those forwards is bewildering. Other fourth lines generate chances and manage to score from time to time, and when the Rangers' bottom-six forwards work that hard against the lesser lines and d-men of other teams they should be chipping in a few more goals.

I get you. At the end of the day, they are still NHL players. A certain amount of scoring prowess is to be expected...

Would like a 4th line who cycles like crazy and draws more penalties

I think Reaves has drawn more penalties than taken. And I think they do a pretty good job of holding possession considering that theyre playing far more minutes than expected.
Another thing, as much as we “love” Rooney, hes terrible on faceoffs, which I think is incredibly important for a 4th line guy. If youre not gonna score, we need you in other ways, and taking defensive zone faceoffs is one if the biggest for a 4C. Its why Ive gotten on the Ryan Carpenter bandwagon.
I wouldnt be surprised if Drury doesnt make a splash at the deadline, maybe acquiring a third line center.
Gorton and JD were fired cause they didnt make the playoffs, which is extra money in Dolans pocket. This year, they will so maybe they will be a bit patient and see how it plays out.

He will make a move, there's too much cap space not to. If it's not for players it's to eat some cap for picks/prospects to help another team out
