That’s what happens when you got a bunch of bottom 6 players scattered throughout you’re whole lineup. - j.boyd919
certainly not incorrect.

When they were all clicking at once it gave us the illusion that the pens could score a lot of goals (and they did score a lot of goals) but looking at the numbers it never looked sustainable. They need a bonafide top 6 winger. Honestly they could use 2 but that’s unlikely given cap space. I like what Heinen brings to Genos line but he just isn’t a top 6 player either. |

I still say the answer is convert MM to Geno's LW. |

i feel the same way about heinen. he can maybe bring enough to be passable when the other player isnt (frank)ing kapanen. but ideally hes a third or fourth line guy too on a powerhouse team. |

I really, really think we need to give Puustinen, DOC, and Nylander a serious look in the lineup.
Say we bring in a 2RW. Kapanen is crap and we know he doesn't work any more on the third line than he does on the second. We should have an open competition between ERod, Puustinen, and Nylander for that 3RW spot. If Puustinen and Nylander aren't NHL forwards, then oh well. We know ERod is a decent bottom six winger. But maybe they can provide some depth production we're not currently getting.
And Heinan's been good but nothing irreplaceable. Bump him down to 3LW for a couple of games and see if DOC can do something up there with Malkin. Kid's a PPG in WBS and has great relative metrics and is scoring at a middle six rate in a 20 something game sample size with the big club this season. He's earned a shot. And again, if he can't cut it then oh well. We know Heinan is alright. |

Sullivan has to be gone after the first round exit this year right? The team can’t win despite him anymore than it already has. |

They're 7th overall in the league, man. Surely that took some winning...
"yeah but first round exits".... because its always the same script... exact same situation... exact same rosters... always exact same rosters of opponents.... blah blah blah
Pens dominated the game last night, especially the last half. That's how hockey goes sometimes though, right? You know that right? |

Sparkplugs if you will....I'm down..especially for DOC, I mean why not? They are pretty much locked for playoffs...and they're a better team on the road so I dont even care that much about home ice headed in. So lets see what some kids can do. |

Question can Dumoulin play right defense? - Rsh
I can't remember one time in which Dumo was asked to play the right side. He has been a staple to Letang basically his whole career as a Penguin.
Dumo eats a lot of minutes and that really helps Matheson, Pettersson, and now Freidman. Even last night, in a game we trailed for two periods, he lead the left side in ice time.

The person that asked the question was from another fan base. I know I don't follow anyone but the Penguins. Especially now that Wampum's third greatest athlete Stephen Johns is retired.
The wife and I are empty nesters. Between our activities and one granddaughter, I have to record about half the games. So I can understand why one would ask. Dumo isn't going to Buffalo.

This sounds like the narrative from the playoff games, we out play them but the other team is a heavy straight line team that takes liberties and we cant capitalize on the powe play. I know jarry was big part of the losses but this team as constructed is not a long run playoff team...not much confidence in hextall to shake things up he overvalues late 1st rd picks. But he could at least play oconnor and few call ups scratch.simom.amd.reese... |

I mean if he could play right side it would make Marino expendable so I don’t see the harm in asking a question.
Also I will probably agree with grinder after another first round exit. Depending on how sully does things. If he does absolutely nothing except roll the exact same 4 lines, doesn’t exploit depth when on home ice, adjust breakouts or defensive schemes like the last couple years, then yeah he needs to go. Just because you’re happy to make it doesn’t mean you don’t try. |

This wasn't last year's playoffs at all. Not even close. You should win playoff games you score 3 or more goals in.
One of the problems with putting all of an opinion in first round exits is they are an extremely small sample size with so many different factors and variables each year. |

They could of won, probably should of won if not for goalie blunders, but that doesn’t mean sully did much.
And yes I posted when I first saw the lineup last night. I was surprised. But unlike the regular season actually coaching does account for something in the playoffs. I hope he will do something this year and maybe this recent set of changes is an indicator of that. |
