And Clifford does?

Come on man this is nothing more than being about which rough winger they need… left or right.

- Dozzer

Neither is bringing toughness....or much of anything, tbh. I'm not surprised Friedman reporting Leafs looking to upgrade L4.

The thing here is IF Clifford can keep the energy and engagement up I think yes he could bring more. Simmonds hasnt done much of anything most of the season.

Now thats a big IF there I will say.

Tonight Clifford is noticably making an impact out there.

- Roadrunner75

Actually you’re wrong… Simmonds defends physically and yes he’s a touch low on point production (he’s on pace for 20P and the average for 4th liners is 23-34P, it’s why Spezza complaints are a joke since he’s on pace for 30P)

However I love the idea of flipping Simmonds and Clifford back and forth depending on which winger they need on the 4th line, left or right.

No, although the way Clifford looked that period is better than Simmonds has looked in at least 3 weeks. I don't expect Clifford to keep it up, either.

Damn Clifford looks energized. Doong more than Simmonds does
- Roadrunner75

I’ve been telling you guys for years that queeb or whomever is in charge needs to keep these sorts of players involved
the second that they don’t do a sick snipe or dirty dangle the coach puts them on the bench until they need them to snarl at the other team

This is not proper team building, contracts be damned🤦‍♂️

this STILL isn’t ea sports nhl ‘22🤦🏿‍♂️

it’s high time that dufuss learned this and made a last ditch effort to save his job by dealing his boi tois female dog n floater for some grownups who will play a team game and not shrink like a dead Richard in winter under a sheet of snow once the playoffs roll around assuming they end up in the playoffs 🤦‍♂️

Oh ffs don’t listen to media this week… they’ll promote any minor possibility far bigger than they should.

He looked exactly the same on the opposite wing.

Simmonds is on pace for about 20P which is only 3P shy of a 4th line average… and he’s not focused on offensive production so that’s not too bad tbh.

Thats the thing Simmonds is noticable only when he goes after a guy to fight. Ok defense is fine but is he bringing a lot? No.

Clifford may not either but tonight at least, so far, he has been good on defence and is generating more on the offence aide chance wise. Now can he produce and do it more often??

I dont agree Simmonds isnt just taking up roster space really and couldn’t be replaced.

Agreed

The worst thing to ever happen to him was to get main spots on TV. I couldn't care less about his opinions on poop, because for the most part, his opinions are awful. Only thing he should be doing is rumours, because that's where he used to shine most.

Saw lots of hits out there - Rielly, Sandin, Laboosh. Rielly and Sandin were really good out there

Would you fight either of them? I’m guessing no.

It’s not 25 years ago… roughness isn’t what it once was. Damn I remember my cousin getting over 300 penalty minutes.

My big question is how long do we have til toughness is simply a waste of space in the lineup. So I do get what you’re saying. However I think those two will be useful come playoff time.

Disagree.

Being tough makes your opposition think a bit too much and back off their play

As I was saying I like flipping those two in and out of the game routinely.

Need a left winger? Clifford. Right winger? Simmonds.

And flip it back and forth routinely.

dozzbustcush is deleting my expert analysis but yeah, toughness is needed and it doesn’t happen overnight at the deadline or in one off-season🤦🏿‍♂️
