the prices teams are paying right now are ridiculous, Jets have to be sellers!!!! Sell Sell Sell!!!! - Ross77
I agree with this. St. Louis traded us Stastny and that was when they were in the playoff race. I think Jets should be sellers regardless of where they are seeded at the deadline. I think that we could probably get Kappo Kakko for Copp. |

No worries Pastor Mike, I really enjoy your posts too. I say just watch Stanley for a little bit longer and I think once he learns how to perfect his play in that big frame that he will become this teams #1 Defeneman for the next decade or so. I am not even joking when I say from my opinion that he will become the most important draft selection this franchise has ever made. |

we could sell Copp for whatever the best deal we can get, and then if we want to re acquire appleton for a 5th rounder, do that.
with what Chairot got, how do we not listen on Dillan??? I would've taken what the Habs got for Dillan all day!! and yes, Dillan is far better than Chairot. |

As some of you may know, I'm also a huge fan of Logan Stanley. He has shown glimpses of just what he is capable of doing - like last night for example. Trading him would be a huge (pardon the pun) mistake IMO.
He is just scratching the surface of what he is capable of.
I do not think he "will become the most important draft selection ever" for the Jets, but I think he will become a very key part for the Jets going forward. But they gotta play him every game - not sit in the stands! |

Pretty steep prices being paid, can't believe Jarnkrok went for three picks!!! Maybe Copp is worth more then I thought! |

The bottom line here is that even if the Jets get into that last wild card spot they will then play the Avs who by then might have Giroux as well . I'd rate the chance at winning that series at 10% or less.
SEELLLL Mortimer......SELL. !

Fully in agreement - even if we make the playoffs, how far are we going?
Copp - 1st or 2nd (Boston or Rangers?)
Stastny - 2nd or 3rd (St. Louis?)
Also have to wonder if Schmidt or Dillon might be in play? Dillon would bring a good pick/package, although he's very valuable to us. But for a 1st/2nd is he gone? But maybe summer time and deal Schmidt instead of Dillon?
Can see claiming Perreault to fill a hole for departing forwards for rest of season.

Rather than trade Copp, Stastny etc...for draft choices, maybe trade for NHL ready prospects ?

Yes, certainly an option if the right piece is offered.
Owen Tippett of the Panthers, J. McBain from the Wild are being mentioned, and certainly the Rangers, for one, have some decent prospects who may be available.
(Schneider, Kratvsov, Kakko)
That would work too. |

I am going to put on my Ultimate face and say that this team is closer than we are giving them credit for. I believe that if our stars can peak down the stretch (and 55/26/44/80/81/27 are playing near peak) then we can not only make the playoffs but contend for the cup - especially if 37 finds the rest of his game.
If the sellers market is going to yield a 1st+ for Copp and another + for Dillon then it is hard not to consider. Keeping them would still yield a 3rd or 4th round pick before FA for Copp, we keep Dillon, cap space for Dubois and an offseason UFA, at least a few million dollars for some playoff games and a little Winnipeg pride. You dont score on the shots you don't take - lets win the games this weekend and then double down again on the gang we have.

Anyone listen to the Andrew Copp interview today ?
https://illegalcurve.com/...jets-practice-report-364/
I obviously understand concussions and their seriousness. I had at least three and my son has had one as well.
That all being said , I thought Copp sounded today like a total head case. Way too much detail about his history of hits to the head. Apparently he never has failed a concussion test yet he is acting like some player scared of getting hit hard. His interview made me question whether he is dependable for going into the tough areas going forward. Maybe he is gaming the media and trying to lower his chances of getting traded if GM''s are listening in. Nonetheless, I am even a bigger fan now of trading him after listening to his answers to that question.
I also heard him say that " if he gets to spend a couple extra months with his friends then thats OK too" when talking about being traded or not. That basically tells me that he is definitely gone after this season. |

I'll be even more dissapointed in this letdown of a season if Chevy doesn't take advantage of these overpay trades that are happening leading up to this trade deadline and keeps Copp and Stastny. |

Totally agree. Brandon Hagel and two fourth-round picks (2022 and 2024) to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for two first-round draft picks (2023 and 2024), plus forward Boris Katchouk and forward Taylor Raddysh
Seriously !!! Wasn't Hagel unsigned just a few years ago and only made it to the team due to injuries etc. I know he has had a decent season and has two year left on a cheap contract but just think what we could get for Copp or Statsny who while UFA's are much better than Hagel.

I guess Copp is back playing tonight, but wonder if they've given any thoughts of holding him out?
I know, I know, we're still trying to make the playoffs, but why not recall a guy like Gustafsson and sit Copp? We played pretty good the other night without Copp, and Gus is not that much of a drop off.
If Copp gets hurt, I will hold Chevy - or Lowry - or someone else, accountable! We don't want to see our blue chip trade piece get injured - again. Do we? |

Monday is the deadline so I guess we will know soon enough. Copp has looked good tonight so hopefully he doesn't get hurt and this is a showcase to show he is healthy and ready to go.

My gut says the Bruins are showcasing Jack Studnicka. And they are said to be interested in Copp.
So maybe a Studnicka plus a 2nd for Copp? Maybe other pieces including a Jet LH d-man for a 1st? or plus another prospect/draft choice? Speculation? I love it! |

From the hit as I recall it would have been a shoulder or collarbone |

If this game isn't enough of an indicator that the right move is to SELL then idk what could be, Chevy and Chipman are delusional if they hang onto Copp and Stastny.
Just saw somewhere that of all the teams in the Western Conference wildcard race the Jets have the worst odds of making it, just sell Chevy, SELL!!!!! |

So frustrating to watch tonight. Ehlers goes down easy to draw a penalty rather than fighting through the check then follows it up with a low energy effort on the penalty shot (this from a speed and energy player). Later defers the shot to Connor instead - and this is the reason he was ineffective with Laine- trying to be a playmaker when he is really not. Put him with Lowry and let him be the guy ion his line.
Schiefele is a no show, wheeler not on his game, Lowry not finishing checks,
Uninspired play when they need a win. I take back everything I said before, trade Copp, stats, one of the left dmen and get in some players playing for a job, someone who cares. Lose this cerebral hockey poop and play the damn games.
Now for the third period, go-Jets-go |

Lol.. Ehlers is one of the few guys on this team that can actually make a play, the Jets go on bad losing streaks without #27.
The Scheifele line was invisible all night.
Tough break, puck rolled up on its edge and it cost em.
Helly just isn't a big save goalie.
SELL FFS!! SELL!!! |

The best team won, good teams don’t mail in a period and half of a key game during a playoff race.

Don’t get me wrong Ehlers is talented- he just isn’t nearly as effective when paired longer term on a line with other offensive talents. Let him be the guy with Lowry and take a few strategic shifts with 55 or 81. He changes his game to something he is not as good at when assigned with other stars. |

Ehlers has been puzzling me this year with low energy plays, going down and then a lack of urgency to get back up and into the play, looking at the ceiling after a shot, and this breakaway of low energy. Then he flashes his talent again and shows what he can do leaving me to scratch my head.
Maybe its usage? Injury hangover? Coaching?
Its hard to beleive that Wheeler is almost a point a game player this year. His consistency isn't there game in game out like it was in previous years. |
