stanley was horrible last night, he has one good game every 5 or 6 games. i just dont see what some of you see. trading heinola to keep stanley is a devastating franchise move
- Ross77

Don't agree with you on this one Ross. I thought Stanley had a good game last night. He also made a few key plays that may have saved a goal in front of the net and near the blue line. He had three takeaways, three blocked shots, no giveaways, and had a few big hits.

Brendan Dillon on the other hand was brutal out there.

Copp for Debrusk looking like a more real possibility here now that Debrusk signed an extension.

BTW....I'd also like to point out that while there are those fans out there that think that Jets should keep Copp and Statsny because Chevy owes it to the team to believe they can do it. What about the team of scouts that travel all over the USA, Canada, Europe, etc , interview players, live in hotels, etc. Chevy also owes it to get a few picks for these guys so that all their work somehow becomes worthwhile.

...and Copp to the Rangers. Fingers crossed that Lafreniere is part of a bigger deal here.

Sounds like it is picks and a prospect.

Yes. No Lafreniere . Its now 3:37 PM EST . It's possible there might be paperwork problems as it seems to be quite late and no terms yet. Will this deal even go through ? Why did the Rangers even bother with Mott, if the Copp deal was fully done ? Something strange here.

I assume there was likely not the type of offers for Stats that made it worthwhile vs still taking a run at the playoffs. I also heard there was something like 33 trades in the queue so who knows.

Edit. I think its a conditional 2nd in 2022 and 2023 plus a 3rd in 2023

I also assume there is a bit of contract retention on that by Jets

I suspect that if a contender wanted Stastny, the Jets would have given him the option of accepting or rejecting the trade. Sort of a verbal "no trade" clause.

Conditional 2nd could be a first. 2nd round pick is either 2022 or 2023 ( Chevy's choice) , 3rd was actually an NYR 5th for Jets 6th.

So in summary :

To Jets : Mason Appeton, Zach Sanford, Morgan Barron , a 2022 4th, a conditional 2022 7th ( which we will never see) , A conditonal 2022 1st ( if NYR win two rounds and Copp basically doesn't get injured, or a 2022 second if not)) , a 2022 or 2023 second ( Jets choice) , a 2023 5th.

To other teams : Andrew Copp, Nathan Beaulieu, Brian Little , Nathan Smith , a 2023 6th , a 2023 4th , a 10.5 MM bill for Little for next two years

Did I miss anything ?

Baron was a solid add for you guys. Tops out as a big 3rd line center who wins a lot of draws.

Rangers needed a whole new 3rd line and depth.

Mckegg, Gauthier, bradzinski are ahl players.

How did Stastny not move?? In my opinion, he is far better than Copp. Same offensive production, but can play centre if needed, and much better defensively. What am I missing here?

Stanley is a shot blocking D who is very effective as a bottom pairing guy. Nothing to complain about with him. It is the 15.2M allocated between Schmidt, Morrisey, and DeMelo that are the Jets problem on the back end. Dillon and Stanley are the 2 best at keeping the puck out of the net, and Pionk is the guy driving the offense. If that 15.2M could be spent on a true #1 D, and a couple depth guys you would see a very strong unit. Obviously that is not happening and that trio is here for a few years yet.

So basically, a prospect, two 2nd's and a 5th for Copp and a 6th. Correct? Not a bad haul. Can always use those picks either fopr the future or upgrade a trade for a D.

Disappointed Stastny didn't get dealt!

I agree 100% with Button. First of all Lowry is literally the worst interview in all of the NHL. I can't see how his acumen in interviews somehow translates to on-ice coaching acumen. Look at how Sutter turned that Flames team around in about 15 games. The jets are seriously talented but just need the right coach to bring it out of them. Lowry is not the answer.

The Harkins-Copp-Svechnikov line was doing great but then coach Lowry decided he should break it up and swapped Copp with Dubois, what a moronic move, he's just another Maurice, really hope he's not made the permanent head coach, the assistants need to go too!
