Was at the game last night, my wallet is crying. One thing I noticed is that Miller has no effort on the back check while on PP or 5v5 pretty much the entire game. Schenn looked good, but slow. If he had some skating ability, he would be a legit top 4 guy. Boeser was snake bit, and that one goal against was just poor effort by out pp1. If Demko kept his stick on the ice like he should, that puck didn't go in and we would have seen OT.

I think Demko thought that puck was going back across, which it would have if Hughes didn’t tip it. So he was pushing off to get square to the shooter. Tough to keep the stick down when you’re pushing.

Really makes you go playoffs... it's why I want to see the team gutted at the TDL and after the season ends before the draft and work on sucking next year for Bedard. This core just isn't going to cut it and another 7 years of this team not being bad enough to get that franchise player (which clearly EP40 is not) or that Hedman/Ekblad/Makar-like Norris calibre 1D (which Hughes clearly isn't able to be) but not consistently make the playoffs and do anything in them if they get there is going to kill whatever is left of interest in the team by fans and interested parties.

I did like Bo crosschecking Larkin for trying to poke at the puck, that Demko was covering.

That was a team loss as only a few players gave a good effort, with Brock and Garland not giving much effort.
One has a piano tied to his ass, the other is Mason Raymond 2.0.

I don't think the Canucks should be not getting something for assets they could be potentially losing. Same as next season even if things are going well, I don't think you can go into next deadline with a team that has a bunch of it's "own" rentals.

Really just the Jets game (home to BOS) that matters tonight. Not catching the Flames, not getting caught by the Ducks.

I don't think the Canucks should be not getting something for assets they could be potentially losing. Same as next season even if things are going well, I don't think you can go into next deadline with a team that has a bunch of it's "own" rentals.

Especially if you don't think the team is close to being a contender, which I personally, do not think they are or even one or two pieces away. They lack a /young/ 1C that can handle the bulk of the offense (even if Miller is that 1C, he's 30 and likely to decline starting in the next few years, and EP40 clearly can't be counted on as a C 1st line or not) and a 1D that can play in all situations and not just provide offense, but solid defense as well (even in his best projections, QH is just never going to be that kind of player, he's Erhoff or Lumme but with higher offensive skills) and better top 6 wingers.

Like I said, Boudreau is only here for this year and next to try and squeeze out playoff revenue for a round or two and then he's off to the next team who's actually close but isn't a very good regular season team (like an Edmonton). He's never shown, nor ever been a guy to get a team to the promised land of a Cup. He's never even been to a Finals for that matter.

I don’t think you give Garland quite enough credit. He doesn’t shy away from the tough areas, he’s just too tiny to be effective in them. He’s also way more crafty than Raymond was. But yes, $5m for what they are getting is a lot of dough.
