Mark Giordano is a HEALTHY scratch for Seattle vs. Tampa tonight.
Could be that the Panthers' saved cap space in dealing Vatrano to the Rangers, could be used towards acquiring Giordano.

If not, word has it for another team interested in acquiring him of at least 5 or more, that Boston will be one team going "ALL IN" by the trade deadline, in having the second best winning percentage in the NHL since Jan. 1st, along with a pick in each round of this summer's draft as trade bait.

Great trade for a 4th

like others said gotta build that 3rd line and hope Kakko looks good when he comes back

You think we see a little less of Reaves down the stretch to the PO's to keep him rested?

- mrn22

Vatrano’s last 4 years, including this one:
2019 81 games 24 goals 15 assists
2020 69 games 16 goals 18 assists
2021 56 games 18 goals 8 assists
2022 49 games 10 goals 9 assists
Not saying he is a great player. Saying this year he has as many goals in 49 games as McKegg (2), Gauthier (3), Brodzinski (1), Barron (0) and Hunt (4) combined in 161 games. I did not put Reaves 2 goals in 52 games in there as he is not in the lineup to score goals. That all said, you would have to think he is a step up from some of the AHL caliber players we have on the 3rd and 4th lines and looks to be a better choice at center than McKegg....or Barron and at 2nd line right wing over Hunt.

The plus with Vatrano in addition to him being a hard working skater with speed & grit is that he isn't puck shy at releasing shot attempts (105 this season); especially when in high quality scoring areas. That despite him averaging only 12:11 TOI/GM this season in the 49 of 60 Panthers games when in their lineup. He received little power play time with the offensive loaded Panthers, as per only 1-G & 1-A of his numbers you posted, having come on the power play. It will be interesting to see if he receives some 2nd unit power play time with the Rangers.

Calling it now. Vatrano on the right with Strome and Bread tomorrow night. Such a better option than Hunt with him being a shoot first player. Not saying long term, but until Monday that would make a ton of sense.

The problem with the 2nd PP unit is theres no one reliable to take the faceoff. LAF, Chytil, Vatrano is a decent group but its not something particularly intimidating. Chytil is losing that faceoff almost every time.

I think Vatrano wears 77
- jimbro83

Yes, he switched from 72 when Bob joined FL.
I liked Dryden Hunt when he was with FL.... Frankie is much more suited to playing up on line 2 than Hunt, imo. Tank can finish.

His last shift as a Panther, talk about going out with a bang

Oh yeah, he never ever played center (in FL, at least). Every draw he has taken was because the center got tossed from circle.

Oh yeah, part two, it seemed the goals he scores are often “clutch time” goals.

The bottom line is for the little ice time, (12:11 average TOI/GM this season, with minimal on the power play), he only received due to the Panthers otherwise loaded talent up front, Vatrano has recorded double digit goals as a 3rd/4th liner in 5 NHL seasons, dating back to his playing days thru Feb, 2018 with the Bruins.

Vatrano also led the Panthers last season with 7 GWG, of which 3 came in OT, just as he won last night's game at San Jose for them in scoring both the tying goal in the 3rd, and their OT GWG to be the game's first star. So why was he instead given some priority in ice time to play 3 on 3 OT?

Furthermore, he likely replaces one in Gauthier who despite his offensive abilities, has little finishing skills to be a goal scorer.

Me too. 21st year with my brother in the old section 404 now section 225. Moved to bar stool seats this season. Less hassle if you know what I mean.

Ek has it. I heard somewhere else that it’s all but done. Idk but figure a first rder probably

I really think Rangers get Giordano. Which would be lovely.

Maybe something like Gio and Jarnkrok, or even Blackwell combo, for a first +

Cousins Calle Jarnkrok and Elias Lindholm are about to be United in Calgary. Jarnkrok is heading to the #Flames .

Sounds like multiple draft picks going from CGY to #SeaKraken .

Doesn’t seem like anything special but honestly almost anything is too much for chariot

Yeah, very much a deadline deal. Little overpayment for a minute eating dman. Overall a fair trade, granted I know very little about Chiarot
