Some negativity per FLA's trade for Chiarot in here. FLA is going all in and, perhaps, overpaid for Ben's services but he's a very capable Top 4 d-man and has made the Panthers a harder team to play against.

MTL got a decent haul with a (very low) 1st, a 4th, and a middling prospect while retaining 50% salary.

Seems like a good trade for all parties.

Not the biggest fan of Chiarot but he would have been a nice add for the Leafs d-corps: tough, can play big mins against big lines, and had a nice run last year in the playoffs against some good opponents.

Honestly, if the Leafs make any moves this year I hope it's for someone with term. Rentals? (frank) that - this playoff is a gauntlet of very, very tough teams.

On 32 thoughts freidman said ownership almost went under 20 years ago when they sold off…have never wanted to do it again since.

I feel bad for the true fans, they’ll never get a good team from this. Just false hope.

I guess, but a lot has changed in 20 years.

would have been a fine time to tank for 2023 draft

He got dominated when he was on the ice. Price and a few replays of chariot cross checking really turned the fans the wrong way.

The reality is he was not good, Price was a beast.

I’d love to face him again, this time without price

yet Florida a much better team than MTL. be careful what you wish for

Well yesterday you claimed we wouldn't get a first rounder because Chiarot wasn't that good.

Chiarot would have been a great pickup by the Leafs and he's gonna help the Panthers alot.

Stats aren't everything.

- Scabeh

So? I don’t care what other teams do, I’m just glad the Leafs didn’t pay that ridiculous price for a 3rd pairing D.

I don’t care if stats aren’t everything. If you are getting outshot 125-70 in a series and getting 0 points for your team it’s negative. You are asking your goalie to bail you out. Which indeed happened.

Well guess he was good enough to fetch us a first after all eh?

You're underestimating him big time imo.

Great haul for the Habs, no doubt about it. Huge overpay by the Panthers. Doesn't surprise me, Gorton is excellent.

I couldn’t tell by MTL’s 18th place finish followed by current last place showing

I think we have to recognize that Price had the benefit of a pretty tough d-corps circling the wagons around him who were getting away with murder throughout the playoffs.

FLA is a better team today than they were yesterday. To be honest, not sure who I would rather face between TBL or FLA. 🤷

If it's Tampa or Florida, I select Boston.

I'll take Florida any day.
We already know Tampa has players that could be playoff monsters.
Florida has Bob, who has a great record of pooping the bed.

Unfortunately, that isn't likely to happen. Then again, Boston is a pretty scrappy team and if their top line of Weasel-Bergeron-Pasta are healthy it's a tough series that I wouldn't necessarily wish for.

We haven't even played FLA yet this year so it will be interesting to see how the Buds match up against them with playoff(ish) rosters set.

Florida overpaid, but honestly, most teams do this time of year. Good trade for the habs and could be a good trade for the panthers if they go deep or resign Chiarot.

Im glad the leafs didnt pay that price for him, but he would have a been a decent add to the team.

Some people just like to argue about everything.

Its weird that we havent played them at least once.
Should be a good game(s) though.

If the leafs decide to show up.

The big challenge remains what to do with that Price contract. He is popular and I suspect that the league at some point will say no more on the injury route to get out of cap owed to aging stars that can no longer earn their way. Chicago was got away with it at least three times, Weber is another, Detroit has done it, Leafs have done it on a couple of smaller deals but just wondering when the inconsistent rules application rears its ugly head.

How is this even possible against a team in your own division?

You're gonna face them what? 6 times in a month now?

No first round opponent will be a pushover in the East. Washington is likely the weakest team going in, but they are dirty as hell and get away with a ton of crap.

Agreed. 8 very good teams going in for the east this year.

Won't be easy to pick who wins.

So you'd be facing Florida only 3 times all year?
