Wondering if FLA balked at Chychrun's price.
Wondering if ARZ might now lower their price for Chychrun.
Not wondering at all if the Leafs go for Chychrun.
#standpat - mjones242
There always seems to be a lead deal or two that do not age well come deadline, like Foligno last year just to watch Hall go for far cheaper closer to the deadline.
Not sure if Chychrun even moves but I suspect if him, or Lindholm, or anyone else are traded just before the deadline... There's a reasonable chance people will be scratching their heads comparing to what FLA paid for Chiarot. Cause one would think Chychrun is worth 4x what Chiarot is in the grand scheme of things.
Hope Dubas holds out if he's gonna do something. |

The whole reason my handle on here is Zezel...I went to an alumni game, Leafs vs. Red Wings at Ricoh. It was pretty cool, Cicarelli was there, Vaive, Leeman playing D, (frank)ing Marcel Dionne, and Zezel skating at about twice the weight of everyone else wearing a toque. Me and my buddies cracked jokes about his weight all night, saying he had gravy in his water bottle and so on.
Later I read his weight was due to the health condition that ultimately killed him, but oh well, it was funny.
Anyway after that we made Zezel characters on XBox hockey, riffed on Zezel all the time, so naturally that's my tag on here.
I remember in that game Joe Bowen was doing commentary from the bench and then he actually got between the pipes for a Dionne penalty shot against the Leafs. Dionne scored easily.
Actually what I remember is that Dionne was probably the oldest guy there and he was noticeably the best skater and most skilled guy on the ice.
Anyway, those alumni games are a blast to see. God Bless Peter Zezel. |

I knew he was getting more than Manson the second Santo told the MTL fan that he was not as good as Manson and would not get as much as Manson. - joel878

He’s only played good the past 10 games or so. Disagree and spin it but if he was that solid Francis would have kept him. He’s been beyond dissapointing. Teams are betting on him rebounding and returning to his prior form. Its a gamble at a pretty high cost.
We shall see.
As for Leafs getting him? Hell no! - Roadrunner75
Why? They are a lottery team and are an expansion team with barely a prospect pool and 7 picks this draft before the trade. 2nd,3rd,7th>30 year old UFA for a lottery team. |

Even better is the fact that the Leafs never got him. |

Crazy thing is that that is probably underselling it.
Like, if Florida was gonna pay that much, they might as well have paid the price for Chychrun. Be a (frank) of a lot more impactful for them if they did. |

No moves the Leaf could reasonably make will make any difference at all if Marner and Matthews no-show again.

I go into Eks blog once……
Eklund
Today @ 7:44 PM ET
As if Florida and Avelanche are not BIG THREATS already. Avs added BIGGER n sturm and J Manson now Chiarot to a nasty Fla team.
Leafs D especially pee their pants just seeing a Ryan Reaves or Tom Wilson come near them or G. No guts or snark on leafs for push back. Bunting deserves props but just because you have a big body or skinny 170 pounds means squat. Matthews will never drop the gloves. F Gauthier was a Samsung fridge and did nothing. D Gilmour 5’9” 170 pounds soaking wet was a beast/grit and character. Dubas better sniff this and wake up or else be fired with shanahan. It’s about time TML logo is glorified with character and testosterone!!!

The first thing he's ever posted that is 100% spot on.

Curious what the vibe is with you guys:
If Dubas stands pat, is that good or bad???
IMO he should be fired. Period.

ALso, also, you guys talk a lot of poop about Chariot. He shut down this (frank)ing team last year. Would've loved him in Toronto.
Somebody remind me which of the Leafs dmen are better at making the front of the net miserable for the opponent??? |

Disagree. IF he stands pat it likely means the market was absurd. It would mean he wasnt about to bankrupt us.
This is from what they said the core’s time to step up and prove themselves. They have been backed and supported. If they falter again, then I think no he isnt fired but gonna be some serious moves made. |

That’s great if you think the core stepping up is enough by itself. If not, if you think you need to make improvements to the D or upgrade in net, you act. Maybe the top end guys are too expensive but then you find something else. |
