Still in Mexico.

Hope you're enjoying yourself. A few friends have ventured down there only to extend their stays.

The NFL is a QB driven league the last number of years. Without an elite QB, your team isn't going far. While Wilson may not be what he once was, he's still a top 7 or so QB in the league... and that is/was behind a bad OL in a conservative scheme. The Broncos haven't had a good QB for years, but have a good team outside of that.

They gave up a lot, but a franchise QB is the hardest thing to find in football. There's nothing really comparable in hockey.

- NewYorkNuck

We googled it when the trade was made. Not sure he inside the top 10 anymore. Cusp with a better team but most had him ranked at 11.

Certainly not comparable and there seems to be a lot of bust QB's in football. Thinking you could pick one with either of those first rounds they gave up and get someone as good as Wilson, probably not.

Not all that different than in hockey thinking that giving up a very good center, you will automatically get one in return through the draft.

I extended my stay as well, I'll be back middle of April. It's been great but I'll be ready to come home next month. Watching hockey that starts at 9pm sucks.

Yes, I am hoping they blow it up, but will be fine if they only make a couple trades.
They need to start somewhere.

The Tampa Bay Lightning announced that they have signed forward Ilya Usau to a three-year, entry-level contract. Additional terms of the deal were not made available. Usau was previously undrafted and last played in North America for the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL in 2019-20.

Winning helps. Having a bunch of russians helps. No taxes helps.

Mid April will be just in time for the start of exciting hockey. The 1st round of the playoffs is the best hockey of the season. It will be fun watching hockey being played with passion for a change.

Think VAN is one of the teams with interest in Travis Dermott.

A guy who isn’t good enough to play defense for Toronto.

Hearing #FlaPanthers are acquiring D Robert Hagg from #Sabres.
They would be better off getting Brad Hunt.

Teams have won without a franchise QB, outliers for sure, but Denver's last Super Bowl was with a super gimped and dead armed Peyton Manning that won solely because of Von Miller. Philidelphia won using super backup Nick Foles against GOAT Brady, Seattle won when Wilson was in his second season as a starter and that really was more of the Legion of Boom than anything.

The point is, Wilson wanted far too much control over the team, he got OCs fired and ended up breaking up the defense because of his need for control. There were signs years before last off-season's trade demand that the team was having issues with Wilson with the defense getting pissed at the offense (namely Sherman before he was cut and signed with the 49ers). A lot of it can be traced back to the loss to the Patriots in Super Bowl 49 when they passed the ball on the goal line and got it intercepted rather then have Lynch run it. There was speculation that it wasn't Pete or his OC that called that play, but Wilson himself who wanted to be the hero and get a Super Bowl MVP to pump up his prestige.

The Seahawks will be fine, they'll suck for 2 or 3 years, Pete will retire and then they'll gradually get back to being a top team in the league. Wilson won't last long in Denver where they eat QBs for breakfast if they don't win a Super Bowl, and in that division where they have Mahommes and several incredible edge rushers? Yeah, good luck with that.

I would say it's a cap dump move where Toronto gets Hamonic and Canucks get something in return for having to take some cap back for a worse player

Not advocating for a Dermott trade, but the Leafs play poorly without the puck and are bad defensively as a team, similar to the Canucks.
The kid definitely needs a change of scenery.

Is he as good as he's ever going to be?

Im not sure hes the guy i would target in their system, but he's worth a shot if it's cheap. Poolman for Dermott

I wouldn't be surprised if a deal for Motte took place.
Toronto just lost Kase, in what looks like it could be another concussion.

Those rankings are based off the past season, more than likely. With his injury and playing on a non-playoff team with a crap OL, he wouldn't be ranked too high. Purely on his talent and pedigree, he's top 7 IMO.

Good call, just saw the same being speculated on Twitter

Not a fan of that trade unless something worthwhile is added to Dermott
