Tippet blows. Bust
2023 3rd. Useless
2024 1st. Not helping aggressive retool.
Lmao yes because
Signs risto etc
No direction whatsoever. - Stayin alive
Chuck is not a good GM. Many things to rip him for, this deal however isnt one of them. His hands were clearly tied.

Why do you say that. Look what Chicago and Anaheim are getting, how can G not return a really good haul? Don't tell me you are going to the reply with "Fletcher is incompetent ..." - jd250
Because Florida wasn't actively pursuing G. G wanted them. |
|
|
|
Clearly Giroux said trade me to Florida and you will like what they give you. No Gm can make a decent trade in these circumstances. Tippet looks to be a bust . Maybe the 1st round pick in 2 years will be traded. Lol. It is what it is. Bend over and like it. |

Well, if this is the return they are getting for G, apparently it was not much of a trading war. I wonder if the Flyers are covering any salary also, probably are. - jd250
The issue is your expectations were out of whack the entire time. Despite myself and many others telling you so and making futile attempts to explain the situation.

So you're going to base it on solely not trading a top first round pick? Just sit back and wait. Don't worry though. You'll love the trades and the culture change that comes with it. LOL - MJL
All I'm saying is if Fletcher is not going to build with younger players but go right for veteran players via trades and free agency, he would use his top pick as a trade chip. |
|
|
|
If its Tippett and the 2 picks, he got back less for G than he gave up for RR
Try and rationalize that "his hands were tied", he's a terrible GM |

Yea, I know what you're saying. It's misguided simply because he has other assets to work with. So by not trading his top pick, that does not signal that he is not in a win now mode.

Elite Prospects say this about him, which sounds nice:
Scoring winger who possesses that natural scorer’s touch…he gets to the right areas of the ice both with and without the puck, Futureconsiderations.ca 2017
A pure goal scorer with average size and good speed. A player who his dangerous all over the offensive zone, Hockeyprospect.com 2017
Except he is 23 and hasn't shown it at the NHL level yet and unlike Frost has not been hampered by injuries, that is not a good sign.

I can't disagree with you .. if this is all it is this is a horrible deal IMO. Another setback for the organization. |

Risto was a full season addition. Giroux is a 2 month rental.
I also Disagree value is at least equal.
Ristolainen: 2022 1st 2023 2nd and Hagg
Giroux: 2024 1st, 2023 3rd and Tippett
Tippett is more valuable than Hagg so it evens out

The Philadelphia Flyers traded longtime captain Claude Giroux to the Florida Panthers for prospect Owen Tippett on Saturday.
Connor Bunnaman, a fourth-round pick by the Flyers in 2016, is also going to the Panthers in the deal. The Flyers also are getting the Panthers' second-round pick in 2023 and their first-round pick in 2024, in addition to Tippett.
This is a little better, but not by that much. |

We all understand that Fla is Gs preferred choice and that limits negotiating power. But youre already behind the 8 ball when Chuck is the negotiator, so youre double (frank)ed |

A first round pick is good, but two years from now? I am aware they don’t have any in 22 or 23, but i would prefer a premium prospect now. We will look forward to that pick skating for the Flyers 5-6 years from now…maybe. How is this team going to be remotely competitive any time soon? I don’t see difference makers on the cusp and we are filled with overpriced mediocre players, i am looking at you Hayes and JVR. This organization is really garbage right now from top to bottom. I hope some better deals are on the horizon or this decade plus of mediocrity with continue for another decade or so. Nothing this team does seems to work out in their favor, from free agency to trades to player development. |
