For what, a 5th round pick? So tell me what is better? - MJL
I don’t care. Florida wrecked Fletcher. |

That would be insanely stupid. - MJL
Why, because a player that can't stay in the NHL and a 1st round draft pick that is years away are going to be part of the 'aggressive retool'?
I have zero problem trading Giroux. I have a big problem with the return, especially considering you still had 2 days to make the deal.
It's so great that Florida got better and that the Flyers did right by Claude Giroux. Meanwhile, Flyers fans sit here with a sack of crap for a season, a sack of crap for an organization, and a trade that did very little to change either. |

Maybe not, but this team has been destroyed. It’s awful from top to bottom. And it needs to get these moves right and this just isn’t that. For whatever the reasons. It’s just brutal. |

It’s nice to get the first rounder, even if I am not that high on Tippet. There were better prospects to be had, and a part of me wonders if Fletcher simply covets the archetype that Tippet supposedly is. We will likely never know if Florida was open to moving their other youngsters.
One also has to wonder if the 2024 first won’t burn a hole through Chuck’s pocket before too long.
There isn’t enough being made by the beats about why this franchise has found itself in a position to have to more Giroux to begin with.
Hope Claude can win a cup down there. |

That return is a better return than what you would get by going with your suggestion. Pretty simple actually.
The two days left are irrelevant. The Flyers were dealing with one team.

They actually got this move right. It was never going to be a move that would springboard the team. There is nothing brutal about it.

An top notch return would have been
Denisenko,& Mackie Samoskevich or Aleksi Heponiemi and a pick
given the situation, unrealistic wasnt getting that
A Competent Return
Denisenko one of MS or AH and the Pick
Underwhelming Return
We gots it
Make no bones about it, Tippet is the player Fletch coveted and negotiated for. |

I’ll leave hope, most Panther fans think Tippett is going to be a top 6 player |

But if this is the return, then the return doesn't matter. This team is in purgatory and NOTHING in this deal changes that. Fletcher should have looked at entire the Panthers org., given them a list, and said meet this demand or we play out the season.
The two days are very relevant. The Flyers had the player and ZERO to lose while Florida is gearing up for a playoff run - Fletcher should have been the one calling the shots.
This was an absolute failure on all accounts. |

Agree, I would have prefered Denisenko but I think CF did the best he could under the circumstances. Go Panthers. I would be definitely be open to resigning Giroux on a 4M /2- 3year type of deal

A top 6 player but at 23 he couldn't stick with the team? I'll have what you're having - it must be very good $hit. |

In my opinion, the return was worthy of the situation. You aren't getting a 1st round pick and the teams top prospect in that situation.

Hnic in liked the deal for Philly. Yep I’m going w their opinion over yours - sorry.
I rip fletcher every chance I get, but he did a decent job here. Nothing wrong w Tippet. He will be a middle six winger at worst who gets you 25 and will score on the pp. He prob already has as good a shot as almost anyone in our org. He can bring offense, but loves himself. So what. Good trade. |
