Agree, I would have prefered Denisenko but I think CF did the best he could under the circumstances. Go Panthers. I would be definitely be open to resigning Giroux on a 4M /2- 3year type of deal
- 3flyerkids

There is little to no chance that Giroux is coming back here. If he was willing to sign that deal, he'd probably be re-signed already. I think he wants to win. He's 34 and has given his all to this team. Now it's time for him. Hopefully he wins a cup and gets into the Hall of Fame.

I’ll leave hope, most Panther fans think Tippett is going to be a top 6 player
- wcorvette

I havent seen that but i have no idea about Tippett. one thing is absolute, hell be given every opportunity, with the longest leash in the history of the franchise to succeed

Only the Flyers can trade their franchise player +++ and get a piss poor return.

A top 6 player but at 23 he couldn't stick with the team? I'll have what you're having - it must be very good $hit.

Have you watched the panthers this year?

Their offense is ridiculous. You gotta watch other teams besides the flyers bud

I think it’s pretty clear Giroux wanted to stay. You don’t narrow your list to one team if you want to win.

Colorado wanted him and was willing to offer more. He wanted no part of it.

I think he waits and sees how things play out a bit in fa. I don’t think it’s impossible. He may feel better about their future than some here.

But if this is the return, then the return doesn't matter. This team is in purgatory and NOTHING in this deal changes that. Fletcher should have looked at entire the Panthers org., given them a list, and said meet this demand or we play out the season.

The two days are very relevant. The Flyers had the player and ZERO to lose while Florida is gearing up for a playoff run - Fletcher should have been the one calling the shots.

This was an absolute failure on all accounts.

- snake17

Fletcher was not in a position of calling the shots with Giroux having a NMC and only negotiating with one team. Again, what Fletcher got is better than what you suggest.

I don’t watch Florida. It pisses me off that joke fairweather franchise in South Florida might win a Stanley Cup and show up like they were fans all along.

Sad to see G go, blow softened by him now playing in my backyard, hope they take it all and he is the MVP. I can’t wait to see him play with really good NHL players

Giroux is not stupid. The Flyers can't afford him if they want to do other things. He would only sign a cheap deal if he feels it gives him a very good chance at winning a Cup. That won't be here in my opinion.

If he wins a Cup, IMO i think the chances of him coming back are better.
I believe he is close to Danny B, and I heard he did meet with CF and DB to discuss the future. Why wouldnt he come back, if he loves the city/team and they are willing to take him

In my opinion, the return was worthy of the situation. You aren't getting a 1st round pick and the teams top prospect in that situation.
- MJL

If we got the competent option, i wouldnt expect a first

He has not been their franchise players in a couple of years.

What did you think they were going to get for the guy?

Gotta watch the league and appreciate what his value actually was.

Pretty clear based on what? Giroux wanted out. No question about that and he wanted to stay on the east coast.

So you know nothing about the player but are totally willing to blast the return they got? Interesting.

Hockey has been getting more and more popular down here, before the Panthers started winning. I think all the transplants from the NE, had kids and those kids are hometown fans now. Rinks are opening up and all the rinks are packed with leagues.

Yeah, I got a chuckle out of that myself. Yandle wouldn't fetch a roll of toilet paper in return.

I don't see him coming back. I don't think he'll want to come back and I don't think the Flyers are going to want him back. Both have moved on. The Giroux era is over.

Where did he say he wanted out? Where did he give any indication that he no longer wanted to be a Flyer? Where were his words saying that? You’re always Mr. Literal. If I wanted out and wanted to be on the East Coast I’m not saying no to Boston, the Rangers, etc.

Just saw the trade. At least there’s a 1st involved. G really didn’t do us any favors on the way out

Why should he?
