Then prepare to suck for another 5 to 10 years. I don't have the patience for that personally since they've already sucked for the last 10 years. - Phillywhiteout
Like I said before. Those that weren't patient during the Hextall years and wanted an escalation are still waiting. Only now the team is in worse position with a GM and a front office hell bent on trying to buy and wheel and deal their way to cup contention. Good luck. Only prolongs the waiting.

Let’s keep the ball rolling and move Braun, Jones & Brassard now. We’re going to end up with a top 5 pick. No reason we can’t move back up into the late 1st with our 2nd if we get picks for these guys. This will be one of the more exciting off-seasons for sure. |

Sad to see G go, but I suppose it was time. I hope he succeeds. I hope more that we benefit from the trade (which seems a little light, but about what we expected), but I also wish him the best of luck.
He played 1,000 games in Orange, and very rarely was he given a true goal scorer, something a highly talented distributor like him deserved. |

One thing I didn't know until late yesterday was that G only wanted to play for Florida, in other words there was no list of teams and no bidding. I know some here were saying this but I didn't know why. Thus when the trade went down I was really angry at Fletcher, was he really the joke many said he was? But after learning this I think Fletcher did an outstanding job even to get what he got back, and he must have had to use a lot of his political capital to even be able to do it. Not many GMs in this situation get back a top prospect and 1st round pick, and I'm sure Fletcher's relationship with the Panther's front office came nto play here. You all can be down on Fletcher if you want but this trade along with signing Risto for less money than he was making, while many of you stated Risto was getting a big raise, should indicate Fletcher is a lot more competent than many of you give him credit for. Fletcher now needs to get what he can for the other expiring contracts and try to make the most of this deadline. |

If you want to blame anyone for this trade, it's 100% on Giroux. It should be very clear now G didn't want to be traded and didn't care about going for a Stanley Cup. He is truly "Captain Comfortable" so I say good riddance! I believe even more now that G's choice this offseason is to resign with the Flyers but I sincerely hope Fletcher moves on. Giroux got his 1000th game and celebration, now he can go sign with an easy team like Ottawa and finish out his career. This was a missed opportunity again for the Flyers and it's 100% Giroux's fault! |

So far the real winner this deadline is Boston by far. On the surface it seems like they gave up a lot but they gave up very little compared to getting back a legitimate top pairing defenseman and signing him for 8 years at $6.5M. Now with McAvoy the Bruins are set for manyy years to come and immediately put themselves back into serious contention for the cup. That is what happens when a GM does not have his hands tied. |

Your out of your mind. He gets to go to a team that’s favored to win the cup. Doesn’t have to carry the team, can fit in nicely with top end talent, no pressure , no whinny no it alls, gets to resign with the same team and have a chance to win the cup the next 3-4 years. G put his time in here and got no help. But in your opinion he will sign with a “easy” team, lol. G can still play at a high level, especially with this team. I’ll be watching and rooting for him. I hope he crushes it down there. |

I still think Colorado is favored. Florida plays in a division with Montreal, Ottawa, Buffalo, and Detroit. |

I bet the people around you thank God for the internet, so that you can tell people how you think your right in online forum posts rather than them having to listen to you tell them how right you think you are. Because you telling people how right you think you are is the theme of every post I have read of yours. |

They didnt get a top prospect. They got more of a suspect.
The GM used his political capitol lol. RR is still overpaid.

Told you all along they werent going to get a haul for Giroux...your expecting guys like Lundell or Newhook was never going to happen. Fletcher did ok under the circumstances but calling Tippett a top prospect is a stretch and the 1st is 3 yrs from now and likely a late first. With G limiting the teams he would go to killed the return but that was certainly his perogative. They would have gotten much more from teams like Bruins and Rangers |

Just curious, if he didn't want to be traded than why was he traded? CC owed the flyers nothing.
Apparently ASF has said CC would have opened up the list of teams if the GM would assure him he will bring him back next season. The GM wouldn't give him that guarantee. So it was Florida only

Colorado plays against Arizona, Seattle, SJS, and Chicago. I’ll still put my money on Florida. Now they just got the best available forward who’s hungry. |

You need to join EHarmony. Get out of the house Cliff.
No worries as still waiting for all "young" Saint Ronnie picks to step up to be that elite talent. |

How can you say he didnt want to be traded and didnt want to win a CUP..If he didnt want to be traded he woudnt have waived his NTC and if he didnt want to win a cup he would have stayed hear. He picked a team to go to that not only is one of the clear favorites in Florida but offers so much more . G did what was right for G and his family and that was the right thing to do. He owed the Flyers nothing just like they owed him nothing. Your logic and reasoning is whacky sometimes |

Here is what the Athletic says about Owen Tippet.
The Athletic’s Corey Pronman wrote this about Tippett in the offseason, ranking him Florida’s fourth best prospect in the pipeline:
Tippett’s numbers were good, not great, in his first NHL season, but he was on a deep offensive team. In general I liked a lot of what I saw. I thought Tippett showed his skill and creativity, he made plays with pace and he displayed good vision to go with his shot threat. He’ll never be known for his physical or defensive play, but I didn’t think he looked soft or took nights off. Tippett looks like he will be a quality top-six winger in the NHL as he matures.
In Florida's system tippet was ranked pretty high, just below Spencer Knight and Lundell. Given what Fletcher had to work with, I don't think he could have done any better. |

G had every interest in being traded to a contender and every interest in wanting that team to be a favorite to win the cup. G would want to be sure where that team thought he fit in their line-up and to make sure that line-up was even stronger with him in it. So, no surprise, FLA knew they were the team G wanted and no way were they going to lose a roster player in the trade for G. Flyers had very little leverage with this trade and the Panthers knew all the details |

I do not care what they say. Lets look at today. He is 23 years old. 5 years removed from his draft year. In and out of the lineup.
If he was a flyers prospect and they traded him you would say he was a bust or something similar.
Let him come here and see what he can do. He has a real opportunity. Assuming Yeo the dope doesn't insert him om the 4th line.

If G truly wanted to win a cup and he truly cared about the Flyers, he would have at least put 2 or 3 teams on his list, as was originally reported, But to only choose one team and tie the hands of Fletcher in the process, well that does not come across to me as a player that truly wants to leave. It was almost like the Flyers were begging him to waive his NMC and finally he gave in slightly. No other player in his situation as far as I know has ever only wanted to go to one team and one team only. Tell me, what is the difference between Florida and Colorado when it really comes down to it? G will be away from home just about all the time regardless. I'm telling you G's first choice this off season is to resign with the Flyers, and if I'm Fletcher I tell him to go pound sand and thanks for nothing! |

I agree and posted several times Tippet should not be the centerpiece of any deal, but given the circumstances its amazing Fletcher got anything at all. Maybe the Flyers get lucky and Tippet lives up to what many say he is capable of, but I agree its most likely he will be nothing more than just another middle of the lineup forward. That is why I posted this is another missed opportunity, but its 100% Giroux's fault, not Fletchers! |
