If you want to blame anyone for this trade, it's 100% on Giroux. It should be very clear now G didn't want to be traded and didn't care about going for a Stanley Cup. He is truly "Captain Comfortable" so I say good riddance! I believe even more now that G's choice this offseason is to resign with the Flyers but I sincerely hope Fletcher moves on. Giroux got his 1000th game and celebration, now he can go sign with an easy team like Ottawa and finish out his career. This was a missed opportunity again for the Flyers and it's 100% Giroux's fault! - jd250
You’re an idiot. Do you even follow hockey? If this year’s Panthers team is not a favorite to raise the Cup, I don’t know who is. Giroux does and always has cared about winning. He’s also a family man and chose to relocate to a geographical area that works best for all involved. |

ASF has reported this, if it is true its the best move Chuck has ever made.
Though ASF seems to have a grudge against the flyers. - hello it's me 2050
But is it against the CBA? Seems like it would be. |

I still think Tampa is the team to beat in the East when you factor in their big game players up front, Hedman and Vasi in goal, but Florida is a close 2nd. |

Lindblom, Farabee and JvR play left wing. I doubt Konency gets traded. You don’t know this as fact, I just know what we have now. - SuperSchennBros
Its no guarantee but his name is all over the rumour mill. JVR is another player I dont expect to be back next season whether it be trade or buyout

Why wouldnt anyone? He still can score goals. Just needs to play with some talent. He's still a 20 goal guy IMO. Trade would involve some cap retention which would be fine.

Because they plan to re-sign him........ Its reported he is expected to sign a 8 year 6.5 mill extension.
Secondly, Lindholm had no say in where he was traded to.

i dont think its all that much more though.
Tippett for a second is probably a wash depending on what people prefer. a first in each deal. really quibbling over a second vs third at a certain point. did lindholm fetch a little more? sure. but i dont think there was a NTC tilting the table and D always goes for a higher premium in these situations.
i get the sticker shock of moving on from giroux but its wild to me people expected some kind of better return. its almost formulaic at this point for the veteran rental forward. a first, prospect and a third. the prospect was never going to be a ready for the show next year top 6 plug in guy. those prospects simply dont get moved for rentals anymore with how important ELCs are.

Picks can be used as trade assets. Tippett is what he is at this point. An AHL/NHL tweener.
Flyers fans eat another poop sandwich been eating them for damn near close to half a Century.

That was this team’s assessment of the player they got in return for Simmonds. That guy is now the 1c for the Wild. |

I dont know...... Maybe because they dont have the cap space to do so.......
Giroux isnt a 28 year old top pair D. He's a 34 year old C\LW in decline territory.

oh the mismanagement has been comical. you guys are going to be just as poopty and aimless as the pens in a few years.
all im saying is in a vacuum, this trade isnt something to get the pitchforks out over. its not as though fletcher took anyone to school, but he didnt get pushed into the mud either. this was just the standard exchange rate. |
