Ok so if Fletcher trades him for a 2nd round pick all Flyer fans have to accept that he did his job and has to be given the credit he is due. - Glak18
i'd be really questioning his GMing abilities |

He doesn't get traded. Then sits out the rest of the year..... |

So basically Fletcher would suck if....
1) They don't trade Giroux (because they have to get something, anything, for him before he walks)
2) They trade Giroux for an underwhelming return (because they got something, but not enough of something)

All he can do is trade him to the teams or team that Giroux will accept a trade to. That will severely limit the return. Little Chuckie can do . If G only wants to go to Florida and they are not desperate to obtain him then you try and negotiate a reasonable return. If G agreed to go to Rags or Bruins they could have gotten a huge return |

You have to have more than one buyer to get a better price or else the fair market is what the only buyer is willing to pay. That’s the dilemma but also what Giroux bargained for. |

And if the 1 team Giroux ONLY accepts to go to says "Take this or leave it..."
I said it 3 months ago and I will say it again for the 100th time, fair value for Giroux is AT LEAST
TWO 1st round equivalent package. It can be a 1st round pick and a top prospect or maybe 2 of the teams top prospects, but that has to be the starting point especially with cap retention.
If there is any kind of salary dump needed then the team has to add value for that. Anything else added is just a cherry on top. |

That's not happening. The team he wants to go to is not that desperate to have him. |

Sorry Claude we can't make a deal because there aren't any teams willing to give fair value for you. We'll deal you if you're willing to resign.

So you going to pay him not to play and treat a guy who has played 1000 games for you like dirt....Makes no sense. |

How’s it treating him like dirt? If he wants to play hard ball then play hard ball right back.
If he wants to be a Panther so badly let’s get the new contract done now. |

Then he doesn't get traded. It really is that simple and the accountability has to be placed on the Giroux camp.
A trade that falls through has more to do with just what the value of the package is. If the team doesn't have the assets or unwilling to give up the assets or doesn't have the cap space then you can't magically come up with something else. |

He may not want to be a Panther for the rest of his career but if he does I am sure he would accept a sign and trade. Question is would Florida want him as more then a rental. ?? Not so sure they could afford him after this year. |

The Giroux camp will 100% blink first. He’s 34. He doesn’t have many chances for playoffs left.
Tell him we’re getting a sign and trade done now or he sits. |

That’s what Chuck has to work out. We can take back salary in a sign and trade to make it work. |

"Sorry G the one team you will only go to is unable to trade for you so you can pick where you want to go in the offseason."

Sure it falls on the Giroux camp but what do they care. He will be a UFA in couple months and can go where he wants to go. Honestly I dont think Giroux cares if he gets traded or not. His preference all along seems to have been to finish the year with the Flyers then go UFA if they dont want him back. . |

Nah, he wants to be a Panther. If he was interested in any other teams we wouldn’t be in this situation right now. |

You are going to take back salary on a 3 to 4 yr contract...NO and dont think that would be allowed anyway |

If he has to go anywhere he wants to go to Panthers agreed...but thats just for next 3 months no idea if thats where he wants to play the next 4 to 5 yrs and doubt Florida would want him past this year. |
