Bergeron and lindholm and DeBust??? to sign with about $15M cap space next season. Better trade Jake! Good luck! |
|

Had to get that left side workhorse. Frank the draft picks as long as he is signed and he will be. This guy will play top pair with McAvoy , kill penalties and has the size to deal with the big boys. Now trade Jake and get a right winger to play with Bergy. More deals coming but they filled their biggest need. Still have cap space |

Isn't a terrible trade if he resigns. I like this and admittedly I don't like many of Sweeney's trades |

Just a 1st and 2 2nds. Seems like a lot for a team probably on its way down in a year or two. However, resigning him changes things. Then you retain that asset you can trade at a later date. Trading more picks than Jim Benning!

The first round pick is 24th overall in weak draft. They can have it I like Lindholm. |

They gave up a lot if he's a rental.

Talking about signing him for cap hit 6.5 mill 7 or 8 years.
By the way since 2010 only 1 top 5 draft pick has won a cup . That was Tyler S with the B’s and he wasn’t a major player at that time. So if I can get the player that is established I deal draft picks especially since their usually late first rounders. But he can’t be a rental. They will sign him

Feels like a desperation move. This Bruins team sacrificed a lot of its future for a decent d-man, but they still aren’t a legit cup threat. |

Yep, real desperation move to fill a need the team has had for at least 3-4 seasons now. |

The silent win in this deal is unloading Moore's 2.75 cap hit next year. Sweeney really franked up his cap flexibility this off season with over pays, but the fact he got Moore's crap contract off the books ( that HE gave out ) is a huge relief. Now if they could move out Gryz's 3.75 in the off season you have a shot at keeping Bergy and Hampus and simply replace Gryz with Lohrei or Zboril.
If Hampus extends, this trade will be a HUGE win
I don't think I've EVER said this- but well done Sweeney |

The ups and downs of Don Sweeney! This feels expensive but it’s the splash myself and a lot of fans are looking for. This is out of character for Don, and didn’t think he was capable of this, but I like it.
I like it for all the reasons that have been mentioned everywhere..
Mccavoy Lindholm 1-2 punch on D in their primes is very nice!
I’d have to think the offer Don had in for Chychurn was much more aggressive. Would be interested to see what that was. As well the Giroux offer.

I agree. Sounds like Lindholm has signed too. 8 years @ 6.5 per. Kind of a long deal but I'll worry about that later.

Don Sweeney:
Terrible at the draft.
Makes a lot of questionable FA signings.
Great at pulling off trades.
I'm still not sure what to make of him as GM.

Didn't Sweeney trade a 2nd for Rinaldo?

TSN reporting the extension. Though it is a year (or 2) too long, certainly makes the trade worth-while.

I’ll still argue he’s not as bad at drafting as his reputation. 2015 first round was horrific. Set the franchise back for sure, could have been as good as Tampa. But if you look at his drafting after that, it’s really not half bad |

Agreed. I'm a pretty big critic of Sweeney's but mostly for his FA signings. Yes, 2015 was a mess but afterwards not too bad. Not great mind you, but not horrendous either. |

They’ve been finding guys like Swayman, Vladar and Steen in later rounds. Carlo, lauzon, lindgren as 2nd rounders. Hell if they didn’t botch that one round, I think we’d be tickled pink to find guys like studnicka in rd 2 or Frederic as a late 1st but there’s so much pressure put in these guys cus they’re supposed to be the “top” prospects |

Not exactly a barometer I would use for excitement.
Lets not forget, he passed on Alex Debrincat for Trent Frederic. Tells me all I need to know about what his "vision" of the team is through the draft. |
