Okay so hear me out.

Maybe Drury reached out to Kravs and goes look, you need out of Russia and don't want to play for us long term. Come back this year, show what you can do during a cup run and maybe your NHL stock increases, you avoid this damn war, (we'll even fly out your family), and maybe you will a cup.

Kravs comes over for the push (keep your oh borders closed BS to yourself, you know they'll find a way), they trade for some simple D help, maybe our old friend 18, and another bottom six winger.

You've given up nothing of value, can reassess everything at the end of the season, and maybe have a trade chip value increase for the draft to bolster the C position

The Leafs are also getting Colin Blackwell in the Giordano deal, per KWeekes.

I dont think the Rangers are gonna want to add salary for next season, even if he is on a friendly 4.5 million contract, they already have 17 million invested in 2 players for next season on defense and Miller will have to get paid soon. No Substantial Cap increase for the coming 2 seasons. They are in for a Cap crunch soon when Laf and KK need raises. If the Rangers trade for another player, I will be surprised if he is more than a rental.
- Brukie

With exception for a top six RW proven scoring sniper needed for the 2nd line if they could land one with some term remaining, I didn't want the Rangers to spend money carrying forward to next season, given their cap troubles then due of chief to Zib's & Fox's huge cap hit increases. They will still have the offseason to decrease some cap hit if need be, and still make trades in becoming then, a true labeled Cup contender for the immediate upcoming seasons. But worse, like you stated earlier, I don't want them to waste their top prospects and draft picks on any rentals for the shortest time of benefit here, who would depart anyway as UFA's after the postseason.

I think the opposite. They win in Carolina, I think Drury says this team can do some damage and with all this cap room let’s really go for it. I see some posts saying we didn’t expect a cup run. F*ck off with that poop. There is no better time than right now. We have a poop ton of homegrown talent that are growing and learning on the fly. I know it’s cliche to say but, Why Not Us! To me Jones, Lundqvist, Robertson, and any other prospect/ Picks are on the table for me.

Travis Dermott has been traded to Vancouver before the details of the Giodano/Blackwell trade have been finalized.

I'm not saying I'm against getting a big trade as long as its not a rental, just that if they lost these 2, management might have done some panic buying.

I agree. One or two pieces could be all the difference to a cup run. Next year is never a guarantee they will be this good again

Robertson is the one guy I wouldnt want to trade because his ELC is the longest of the bunch, as well as the cheapest. I think he could fly under many radars and I might get my dream bash 'em bros pair of Robertson/Schneider.

I don’t think Drury would trade for a rental unless it’s a deal he can’t turn down though ya know. We will find out in 24 hours

Nick Paul also, hes more of your physical/defensive center. Kessel obviously, but thats a bottom of the barrel move.

Ive been a Copp guy through this whole thing, but the concussions are very worrisome.

I LOVE your optimism!
It provides a nice, happy ending like in the movies. However in real life, I just don't see it working out this way.

Friedman said last night that both Nick Paul in being from Ottawa wants to remain there, and the Sens want to retain him; but the contract talks including of term length, hadn't yet been finalized as far as both parties preferences go. That before any further bargaining would possibly occur thereafter on either side. So it appears it's just a matter of time before a new deal is agreed upon there, with absolutely no worry by the Sens of losing him for nothing in return otherwise.

I know Gio only wanted to go to Toronto, as pointed out to me on Twitter a few times, but to get him and Blackwell for that price is pretty much a steal. Especially seeing what Ben Chiarot cost.
