You realize that in just about every transactions that are linked to Vancouver, there will be some who like it and others who don't and some that are indifferent.
- Reubenkincade

I actually liked the first transaction but then they followed up with a Benning like transaction on the second move.

I do realize that almost every move is going to be met with resistance. This second move was unnecessary . We have 7/8 Dmen already in our system at half the price .

If they trade Boeser I’ll be very encouraged. Return doesn’t matter. It’s about identifying the overpaid passengers and eliminating them
- CanuckDon

Would that generate more HOOPLA than all this hoopla & over analyzing of Dermott?

You forgot lets see games played before going off. Lol
- Nighthawk

I didn't think I was going off, just re-iterating something I have previously expressed some concern about.

In regards to Dermott, I look forward to seeing him play and not rely on the opinion of idiot Leafs fans.

5-4 Buffalo in a shooting gallery. Without Hamonic, this D is in shambles.

I won’t even speak of the Dermott trade. Becuase who gives a (frank) about him or a 3rd? Certainly not me

Update: The third-round pick Vancouver gave up in this deal is not the one they acquired back from the Senators in the Hamonic trade. Rather, it is the pick originally belonging to Winnipeg that the Canucks acquired in the Nate Schmidt trade

Is Poolman back?

Found it:

Sounds like - despite the Hamonic trade - that Tucker Poolman isn't quite ready to return to the #Canucks lineup on Sunday vs. Buffalo. Poolman has been practicing with the club for a week now.

Noah Juulsen is the only other defender on the roster, so I'd assume he goes tonight.

But it had been rumored for days now that they had interest in Dermott, they just didn't have the space to make that move, hence the Hamonic trade.
They basically got the extra cap space to acquire Dermott and the pick needed to acquire him.
I won't give them a lot of credit, but that sounds like a fairly smart move to me.

Again, I am not on they yay or nay side of this trade, more on the indifferent side. I thought it was a creative way to acquire a player that you are seeking, which is something unheard of, under the previous regime.

I think the idea is maybe Dermott, who was a second round pick, can take minutes in the top 4 and maybe PP time? For a low cost of Hamonic essentially. Plenty of time this season to see what he's got and if anything, move him at the draft?

I used to think GMs had to make bigger moves but to be fair, they also have to protect/balance developing guys in the minors and ice a team in the NHL. You're right, it doesn't truly move the needle but it's low cost and "meh" for the remaining 20 games.

I will say one thing, you people are way nicer than the sabres posters.

I simply see him as low risk & better than Hamonic & cheaper. Is it earth moving? No it’s a minor move that is only the beginning of more changes to come.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson has been a two-way beast for the #Canucks for most of this season.

Lately he’s been pretty clearly labouring and… well the results have fallen off significantly.

Wonder if the Dermott acquisition might give them the flex to drop him to the third pair:

Plus the tweet to the on ice x goal differential.

You mean like Burroughs Schenn Juulssen Hunt ?

You can't say with certainty change is coming . This change so far after two moves has not made us better . I would wait and see if anything else happens before announcing this team will be better because it did not happen today.
