You are speaking now about the Dermott trade. Just pointing out the fact

I agree spending foolishly is not worth mentioning anymore we have had 16 years of of experience already

- VANTEL

Your "facts" are just based on hating the player because of the few games you watched of his. The actual facts are: hes a career plus player on a notoriously bad defensive team, he has good skating and passing(which we really need from tge back end), hes half the price. Your opinion of him is not a fact.

I think the idea is maybe Dermott, who was a second round pick, can take minutes in the top 4 and maybe PP time? For a low cost of Hamonic essentially. Plenty of time this season to see what he's got and if anything, move him at the draft?

I used to think GMs had to make bigger moves but to be fair, they also have to protect/balance developing guys in the minors and ice a team in the NHL. You're right, it doesn't truly move the needle but it's low cost and "meh" for the remaining 20 games.

I will say one thing, you people are way nicer than the sabres posters.

- Aaron_85

For sure. At the very least it provides some time to acquire younger depth. Or some flexibility to move a guy out without stretching things too thin. Not sure why some on here are acting like we're taking on a 8 x 8 contract and burning first rounders. It's a decent move to provide runway for whatever is next.

I hereby bet Mr Reubenkincade that Nate Schmidt will have a bounce back year during the 21/22 season in Wpg.

*bounceback refers to returning to historical averages around play and an improvement on last year's dismal performance on the Canucks.

Loser of said bet will be required to cheer for the Leafs next playoffs and openly chant 'Go Leafs Go' in both Vancouver and TML blogs regularly.

*this is assuming they even make the playoffs and will likely not last than a single playoff round.

Good thing Leafs are loading up to try and get out of the 1st round so Ruby won't be just cheering for only one round this year.

We can't take on an 8x8 because of idiotic acquisitions like this.

This is Linden Vey all over again . How about Sven Baertschi .

Oliver Ekman-Larsson has been a two-way beast for the #Canucks for most of this season.

Lately he’s been pretty clearly labouring and… well the results have fallen off significantly.

Wonder if the Dermott acquisition might give them the flex to drop him to the third pair:

Plus the tweet to the on ice x goal differential.

Sorry, is this suggesting OEL is the 3rd pair LS D?

1. Hes a career plus player on a team that is bad defensively.
2. He skates and passes well, which we need more of on D
3. Hes half the price

From the few games I watched Schmidt was terrible so I wouldn't say he improved his play, maybe in the 1st 10 games of the season sure, but been pretty meh since, just like when he was here

You mean like Burroughs Schenn Juulssen Hunt ?

You can't say with certainty change is coming . This change so far after two moves has not made us better . I would wait and see if anything else happens before announcing this team will be better because it did not happen today.

- VANTEL

I’m certain change is coming.

As for better it doesn’t move the needle on ice product maybe but the cap is better.

As for better in the future that is wait & see on what changes happen

I think we dodged a bullet getting that contract out without retaining. Was actually one of JBs better moves

It is a know fact that when Canucks get a player they have a rich history of turning their careers around .

Calling Nate Schmidt , Erik Gudbrandson Jason Dikie ,

The list is long .
