That's a 5th overall pick.

The online chatter was to LA for Turcotte the other day? Would be happy with that.
- NewYorkNuck

Is Turcotte going to be better than Dylan Guenther, the 9OA pick we traded? Probably a push there, and Turcotte has been developing for a couple of years. So I guesss you take that deal and gain the cap space as well.

The deal was a bit more complex than just Garland for the 9th. But time will tell who is better.

Its the Pouliot redo fear. A 3rd rounder to me is worth the gamble for a 25 yr old Dman that might be able to play up in our lineup. I know he wasn't traded for Hamonic, but if you look at it that way, saved 1,5 mil for a player 5 years younger and is a RFA instead of UFA.
- carsonagenic

I believe they are different players and scenarios. The Leafs have two young dmen they want to bring along to go with Brodie, Muzzin, Rielly and Giordano. They also really need the cap space. Pouliot played more than 22 games 3 times, his rookie season (34) and the two years in Vancouver. He was always a dud.

Little head has been scrambled and has missed tons with concussion like symptoms. It is more of a IR dump IMO.

I'm just going on the chatter and breakdown here that OEL was the dump from Ari for our flushing of a raft of dumps. And Garland was the push for our 1 rounder.

I agree. Just trying to look at it from Vantel's point of view, wasting a 3rd and adding salary. I on the other hand look at it as an OK deal based on what you and I already posted.

As of right now, do not get the sense Boeser will be moved.
Garland could be the top 6 piece moved to free up cap space.
Lots of teams calling on Schenn and Motte.

Which part?
Comparing what we gave up to get Garland? Or where Turcotte is at this point?
I would do that deal if it is offered. Getting Turcotte who some people here wanted during the 19 Draft, and the cap room to work with is fine with me.

I look at the two deals as one since they pretty much happened at the same time. We swapped out Hamonic for Dermott at half the price.

And 5 years younger, and controlled as a RFA if he works out. +'s for me.

As I mentioned yesterday, the Canucks had targeted Dermott, they had no cap room to acquire him, so they moved Hamonic to free up the room to acquire the player they wanted.

Smart and creative move. I think it caught people off guard, as they aren't used to Management doing creative moves, nor smart moves.

Obviously living in that pacific time zone, GM's tend to be not awake in time to do anything in Van.

Servalli on Hamonic trade: Allvin became a really popular person within the Canucks locker room because that group was ready to move on from Hamonic...he had sort of worn out his welcome.

Basically traded a locker room issue + cap dump for a cheaper promising dman. I didn’t like it at first but after thinking on it, it’s hard to dislike it

If they’re trading away potential locker room problems like Hamonic and Garland, how can you dislike Allvin?
