I don’t think he’s given them enough time, it’s gonna take time to re-shape the roster. Rutherford and Allvin have a ton of NHL experience between them and unlike Jim Benning or Mike Gillis I believe they’re respected around the league. People just need to give it some time.

I have complete confidence in PA and JR. They're going to do a bunch of reworking this summer. Just getting some cap space alone was amazing.

Allvin got a 4th for a player who was going to leave.

Benning over-payed in trades and let players walk into free agency instead of trading them for assets.

Allvin did well yesterday.

It was a pretty “meh” day but if your prices aren’t being met don’t be a pushover, stick to your plan. Hopefully we see more movement at the draft as far as re-shaping the roster.

Curious to see this Dermott kid. Here’s a comment from a scout posted on CA.

“Dermott is essentially the platonic ideal of a third-pairing defenceman. He’s consistently produced strong two-way results — albeit in a sheltered role — and moves the puck effectively while offering the sort of versatility one would covet in that part of the lineup as someone who can play the left or right side equally effectively.
If nothing else, he’s a quality option at the bottom of the lineup and cost-controlled for the next two seasons at least. At just 25 years old, perhaps there’s untapped potential further up the lineup, too.”

Vantel hated the trade but on face value seems like a low risk acquisition with some potential. Time will tell.

Allvin has been here less than 2 months, by summer he should have a better grasp on individual players worth on to the team and in the league. Hopefully a few of these teams that "should" be competing for the cup stumble and get desperate in the off-season.

Other than the Caps, and maybe the Pens in the East everyone in the playoff picture thinks of themselves as contenders I think. So guaranteed, teams are going to be disappointed after round 1!

The first round is usually the best round, a lot of really good teams go home after it. Florida and Colorado final…I’m calling it.

This is an odd perspective for you. The guy who says the team is so good under Boudreau, wants to give them a chance thinks the new management group not making massive changes and giving them a chance are doing a poor job. So by following your advice they are doing poorly?

Did you think they should have traded for H.Lindholm and signed him to an 8 year deal?

- 1970vintage

I've maintained my position to the rebuild slurpers that Allvin and JR would stand pat. Exactly what happened. All I'm saying is that why not try a full season under Boudreau. Summer moves could be different but I wouldn't expect much there either. Only contract we need to worry about is what they want to do with Miller. If the club finishes strong and we just miss the PO's I would expect pretty much the same club back next year. Like anything this MNGT group will have their day. But dont' expect a full rebuild here with FA and 3 cups under Rutherford. Boudreau's record speaks for itself. Personally I'd like to see a full season under Boudreau before we 'trade everyone' except Demko Petey and Hughes lol

Claiming a 'big win' on TDL yesterday for Allvin is well...weird. We got softer with Dermott and basically a 4th (which will probably be moved this summer) for Motte lol. Nothing to see there. Rutherford will make a big splash however the rebuild slurpers here probably aren't gonna like it.

Getting a third for him was a (frank)ing steal. Played 24 games this season, $3m cap hit this year and next, 31 year old, and seemingly a locker room cancer.

Hurricanes v Bruins
Rangers v Penguins
Bolts v Leafs

I have COL-TBAY final in my pool but FLA could make noise. Giroux is a career loser though hope that doesn't hinder FLA>

Yup…hated by the players apparently and paid way too much. They got another third pairing guy and saved 1.5 million on the cap. Obviously they felt some of their young guys needed more time.

Agree. Kind of like John Tavares. Great individual players yet can’t get the job done when it counts.

Have you seen the comment from Bieksa about trade deadline additions? Guessing Derek Roy really didn’t fit.

First round is the best. 3 or 4 games a night of great hockey! I think you still have to give the edge to Tampa if healthy. Best goalie in the league, experienced team.

Sens fans are not happy about it. Why give up a 3rd for a Canuck salary dump they ask. good question. We used the ask the very same question when Benning traded Canuck picks for salary dumps.

So again, how is this a terrible group? They did basically what you wanted. Maybe they’re “softer”, but the benefit of moving out a player that was a distraction could be beneficial. Like past deadlines, looks like the rest of the league doesn’t really value Vancouver’s players too highly.

Couldn't find it with a quick search, but doesn't he have some crazy closing out playoff series stats? Like .970 save percentage or something. He is unbelievable in the playoffs.

Every series basically a coin flip, except maybe Cats/Caps, and even then, a hot goalie or Bob poopting the bed could sway the series.
