I pray to gawd no one here is happy, if anyone is happy then you deserve this poop organization.
- A_SteamingLombardi

Why?! Was Hamonic good?! Im confused. A 3rd rounder ending up a bottom pair dman is a good pick, not sure why this is that bad. Havent watched the guy much, i have to admit though.

Hes only signed until next year. If he doesnt pan out, fine, but hes got a decent amount of experience seem to be liked in TO before this year.
- neem55

Not a hard contract to move at any point really. Expiring next year, 1.5 mil.

Minus 1.5M means space for a major trade.

Going to be interesting how this take ages. I personally love Hamonic for Dermott, Hamonic did sweet FA for us. Dermott at least has some potential and could work out. Save a bit of cap. Seems like a nice low-risk move to me, he did play quite well last year.
- neem55

Hamonic wasn’t great at moving the puck. Too often we get hemmed in our own end when he had the puck. At least Dermott is more mobile & a better passer & 1/2 the cap.

Pretty sure his charts also said that Jake Gardiner was a better dman than Provorov and Suter a few years ago

If you have no idea how to read them maybe.

Softwood and Hummus to the Kraken for eternal gratitude?

You might say he is a taller, better skater version of Brad Hunt. I really don't see him being another more than an acceptable 3rd pairing defender, that you hope never has to move up the line up.
- manvanfan

So for a 3rd round pick you get a 3rd pairing guy, it is okay, not great.

I don't think you use Cap Friendly which is probably a good thing . Leaf fans on almost all trade proposals had him attached to the deal to clear cap space. They could not get rid of him quick enough so they really did not like him very much at all.

I probably would have preferred the 3rd, but ive never thought Hamonic was a good fit. Always something wrong with the guy.

Essentially a 3rd pairing guy goes out for a 3rd and a 3rd pairing guy comes in for a 3rd.

It's like having Benning all over again. Does something good then goes and (frank)s it up.

Shall see how Dermott does over a few games though. Maybe a change was all he needs.

1.5 for this year and next, RFA which means some control. I really could care less what fans think of players, looking forward to what management and coaches think of him though. Seems to fit BB's coaching style, hopefully it works.

Leafs not known to develop D very well. It’s a low risk move for a 3rd in a meh draft.

Benning would have brought in the older, more expensive guy

Hopefully Dermott just needs a change of scenery. The cap savings help.
