Hmm interesting. Where? Just curious. Pregame show? Its not on his Twitter feed.
I know Ottawa was close as of 245 on a 3 team deal.
As for Dadonov, its all on Vegas, Ottawa submitted the proper paperwork. Every NHL team has access to the NHL Contract Registry. It looks like the trade will be nixed because Vegas didn't look at the NTC list that Ottawa submitted with the paperwork back in July. - Kevin Francis
Yeah pre game show, don’t remember if this was at tv or radio |

Ok fair enough, probably TSN1200. I will try to give it a listen on their podcast. Thanks for the heads up on it.

Well at least the teams close to Ottawa in the standings won tonight in Detroit and NJ, if they teams ahead of them keep winning that will keep them in the bottom 5. Heck if the 3 teams behind them can keep winning like they have lately, maybe they end up in the bottom 3 and it guarantees them a top 3 pick. |

Bedard 2023 though, no thanks we cant go through another bottom 5 season. Sure Bedard looks like has more upside. But the one problem with Wright is that everyone has picked apart his game for 3 seasons due to him getting the early age exempt at 15. Lets see how he does once he's drafted. - Kevin Francis
I don't know if we 'cant' go through another bottom 5 season Kevin. This team needs to flounder if we're going to see anything in the front office change.
But I'm not pulling for hope - since Bedard is basically the next McDavid it would only be fitting for him to land with a team that mismanages him for ten+ years. |

Well said. But even if we ended up 32nd overall, with our luck we would end up selecting 3rd lol. We always seem to fall in the lottery ball aspect, never moving up!

These numbers courtesy of JR at TSN1200 the morning show host. Great info that he posted. Check it out below. Thoughts Sens fans?!
If it seems like Pierre Dorion likes to horse trade draft picks, you're right.

Utter incompetence aside, one of the most irritating things about our coach and GM is how they add an 'E' to the end of every player's name when they talk about them in pressers. I get that it's hockey parlance in many circles but these guys push it to pathological levels.
It makes me cringe every time. Branny, Browny, Paulie, Bathy, Holdy, Chabby, Forsy, Formy, Stootzie, Sanny, Zooby. They are not pets. Make it stop. Please. I'm keeping my fingers crossed DJ calls Colin White 'Whitey' and gets the boot for discrimination. |

I'm sure that horrific pet name will heal all wounds of sending him down to the minors for half the season. |

I have a feeling Norris will come in somewhere around 7yrsx$7.0M... just to put him squarely between Tkachuk and Batherson in terms of both $$$ and term. The >40G scoring pace may earn him a bit more, but the <65Pts scoring pace should keep it below $8.0M. Formenton will be an interesting case... I could see them trying to go for a White-like extension, but he may wind up being the first 2yr-3yr bridge deal among the young core. |

Lol. Khawk you are just killing it with your comments in this thread. Bravo - this is by far my favorite tactic to get rid of our coach. - Bartacus
Gee guys that can't be very much fun. I think if my singular goal became nothing more than getting rid of the coach, I might just take a break and get myself reoriented in terms of priorities.
The Sens will have a new coach, GM and owner, soon enough. We all operate on God's time and even God can lose patience.
It would be tragic if Sens management went wobbly at this time and gave into the urge to try and find a fast fix. Just another year, maybe two. Be patient. This is not a time to follow premature speculators.
This is the point where many rebuilds collapse. Ask Flyer fans about not being patient enough. Fans, media and owners start to believe that there is a need to "do something" to take the focus off of the bottoming out. Wrong! All wrong!
Stay strong. This is not a time for weak knees. The nervous Nellies will see failure at every corner. They are always the first to cave and the first to howl when the short term fix goes "tits up" as it almost always does.

You know that I'm on the same page as you when it comes to being patient and not selling a great future perennial contender for some short term minor success but this GM has shown that he is incapable of managing assets intelligently but rather is prone to needlessly squandering those assets on ill advised and pointless trades.
The coach is just as bad in his world and seems to think that all your team needs to do to win is work a little harder and be physical. Things like skill or systems or tactics don't seem to matter much to him so even if the team adds some skill in the future he won't only not have a clue what to do with that skill but won't even think it to be relevant. In his world all you need to do to win is work hard and be physical.
That's why he loves Brady so much - very little high end skill but loves to smash into the boards with his backside and make a nuisance of himself in the blue paint. I like Brady but no one would ever mistake him for a number 1 LW on a good team and when he loses his edge as he seems to have done lately he's very much a middle six guy. He keeps his shot count up by drifting a lot of harmless shots on net from anywhere on the ice and often just basically kills the play. When Batherson returns there may be enough skill around him on that line to energize him but I don't know. This D is appallingly bad and I can't see Hamonic making a difference and so they will continue to flounder.
That's what I mean, Spatso. I know it's a rebuild and patience is called for but who in their right mind brings in your Gambrells and Gaudettes and the like and thinks they won't neutralize whatever line you put them on? I'm afraid Dorion will break our hearts when he decides to go big (maybe because of the pressure he's feeling) and kills any chance of the team being a legitimate perennial Cup contender in the not too distant future. |

If you didn't have a chance to listen to him on the postgame presser, it's worth listening to the MDZ interview. Vey smart guy too.

Well said. Lets see if PD has a job after the Dadonov trade fiasco. This is going to get interesting very fast. Can you imagine if PD lost his job over the trade of Vegas to Anaheim with Dadonov? The longer this goes on the more Ottawa could be the issue.

Lets take a look at the Sens next 5 games.
@ Winnipeg
Home to Florida
@Nashville
@Detroit
Home to Detroit
The Jets are hot and lets face Ottawa is awful on the road, loss here.
Ottawa seems to get up for the top teams, maybe they steal a point at home.
They ain't winning in Nashville as they need the gimme points to stay in the playoff chase.
Detroit plays very well at home, don't see this being a win.
Ottawa gets a win at home in the home and home series with Detroit.
So maybe Ottawa gets 3 out of 10 points in the next 5 game segment.
Regardless, for a coach that said the trade deadline was weighing on his team. They sure didn't play any better than they did the last week or so. Hmm..... |

If they don't fire DJ he will sow a culture of loosing in Ottawa and ruin the rebuild

Pretty good! Reasonable.
Overall I think the Sens have assembled a deep pool of high end raw talent and they show flashes of being able to burst through. But we should never forget this is a team with kids dominating the top two lines and the power play. Our future D is even more raw.
I get nervous when I read Dorion saying that the team next year will look very different than the roster from last night. Most rebuilds are killed by fan bases and media becoming impatient. GMs feel threatened, they make trades to try and feed the angry wolves. The rebuild unravels and everyone moves from chaos to more chaos.
The chattering class can be very problematic. They are deeply invested in being unhappy. It takes courage to stand fast before a lynch mob who believes the hanging will fix everything. I am not sure that Melnyk, Dorion and Smith have the courage to stand strong. If they cave it will be to feed the wolves and if they do the rebuild will be transformed into quick fix changes.

Ill be curious to see what transpires with this Dadonov situation in the next couple days.
Hard to imagine Ottawa overtly lied, but maybe some kind of miscommunication occured? Anything's possible with this franchise to wind up with egg on its face though.
Ultimately, the league should have nixed the trade the second it came in, they had his 10 team list. |

CapF is showing Dadonov on Anaheim roster. The M-NTC is clearly noted. I suspect the only delay in announcing the final disposition of his grievance is about who is going to pay Dadanov for the extra taxes he will need to pay in California.
