They are varying degrees of cornerstones, but from 4-5 years of rebuilding, those are the guys you are running with now. Not a bad group. Not an elite one either. Perhaps Sanderson gets that label by this time next year, too. Sens could really use a home run at this years draft at the forward position or use some assets to bring in a quality player capable of playing top line minutes. Still time to fix things, but man, Dorion and co do not give fans a whole lot of confidence to right this ship in a year or two.

Rebuilds always look this way unless you get to pick a generational player at the top of the draft. Even then, it will still be another 3 years plus before you can contend.

I understand folks needing to be upset with Dorion. But it still does not change the fact that all rebuilds take time.

2018 the fanbase was told at the town hall meeting that from 2021-25 Sens would contend for the Stanley Cup! Unparalleled success. So you are saying it will be another 3 year before they can contend? The reason they didn't give Paul the extension was because they told Paul, flat out, I know from people inside the org, they told Paul that in 2 years they will be a cap team due to all the contract extensions they have coming up. So if Ottawa is a cap team in 2 years, if they arent contending for the Cup then then this team is in more trouble, if we go by what you are saying that this team wont contend for another 3 years. Like man!

The game with rose coloured glasses. Because no matter what logic and supporting evidence you have about how awful DJ and PD have been, he continues to say, fun team to watch, be patient. Over 4 years of patience, like Mendes said, next year if this continue you can officially call us the Buffalo Sabres!

Exactly! But hey, keep trying to fool the fanbase. Some fans though on this site are drinking a ton of the KoolAid. Or as one NHL Exec said to me last night after the deadline, fans need to get louder with their displeasure. For a Canadian market, it's awful quiet he said. Well said. You think I want to have to write about the constant garbage that goes on. I would much rather talk about a winning team and all they are doing right. It would be so nice to talk about your team as one that's regarded by other teams as setting a standard like back from 2000-2007!

Bruce didn't say Montreal he said the connection with his agent might make it a landing spot for him this summer. Bruce said an Eastern Conference team. He never stated Montreal.

As for Dadonov, I truly doubt Ottawa could lose their first round pick over something that was filed. Read Elliott Friedman's tweets, Vegas is trying to blame Ottawa but the contact was showing on cap friendly with the NTC. I wouldn't sleep over it, Vegas is in a corner and they will do whatever they can to get out of it.

I'd be stunned if it was Montreal. Dont get ahead of yourselves. Just because is former agent is in the front office, doesn't mean much. Ottawa trading a guy like White within the division, is highly unlikely. Again, Bruce said MTL could be a destination but wouldn't reveal the team that was close to trading for White. I was told it was a 3 way deal and that it fell apart last minute due to PD's unwillingness to take on some of White's $, similar to that of the MDZ deal he could've made too.

Too many AHL players on this team. They just get outclassed by everybody. Throw in a minor league coach and an incompetent fool as GM and my faith is a bit shaken. I've posted many times that I think this is a coming team and they should be but the management is just awful.

I didn't want them making acquisitions at the deadline because that's when contenders overpay for that piece they need. The Hamonic deal was stupid as was trading away Paul. Dorion somehow managed to make the team weaker at a time when he everybody else was improving their team, including Tampa and Vancouver.

I know Ottawa was close as of 245 on a 3 team deal.

As for Dadonov, its all on Vegas, Ottawa submitted the proper paperwork. Every NHL team has access to the NHL Contract Registry. It looks like the trade will be nixed because Vegas didn't look at the NTC list that Ottawa submitted with the paperwork back in July.

The Paul trade I'm ok with as in 2 years they will be a cap team and they cant be paying a 3rd/4th liner 3 million per year. They got younger with Joseph and they control his rights for another 2 years. The Hamonic deal was insane, a salary dump and PD is giving them a 3rd rounder, that's why the National media is absolutely destroying him and they still are 2 days later.

As for tonight, you said it, AHL coach and too many AHL players.....or should I say AHL caliber players. It was hard watching that game tonight. No way was that a fun team to watch as a certain poster keeps saying. Lets call a spade a spade, thankfully the TSN TV panel said it how it was, wiping their eyes from the boredom!

Man, this coach though, 10 min. to go in the game and he gets his 4th line and 3rd D pairing out there against the Isles 1st line.....boom.....NYI scores! This coach needs to go at the end of the season. Listening to his excuses again....on the postgame presser. Its awful and exhausting to listen too. We can just replay his recording from tonight for Thursday's postgame presser. We made some good stops, we couldn't score, give the other goaltender credit for making key saves, they capitalized on their chacnes and we played hard/we need to learn from tonights game. OMG YAWN!
