Vegas on tap tonight and chance to hurt their playoff chances bigtime. Pair of games and Knights 1pt ahead of Dallas who have 4 games in hand at that too.

Sprong 3 goals in 3 games is looking like a pretty nice addition here too.

Well they didn't beat vegas but I get how the team is dangerous. A lot of these guys are playing for contracts and steady jobs in the NHL. So good for them.

Yeah and the loss eliminated them officially at that too so....

Rematch on tap though. Chance to get even and put a dent in Vegas' post season hopes here. Can at least hope. Watched the game and they were not bad just couldn't seem to muster that level of compete and when the goals came it just sort of took them out of it.

Going to be a big offseason though for them that is for sure.

Yeah well they lasted longer in the playoff hunt than Montreal so that's something lol

I hope the Kraken are super active at the draft and in free agency.

Aaaaand 5-2 almost done. ENG there.

Vegas makes it they seriously better be thanking the Kraken there on that one for sure! Seattle missed a big chance to play spoiler there on them.

Well I think they have some good young talent and are just going to add to it. Having their own farm team and it being close by and stocked is a bonus there too. I think honestly it should be a MUCH better and different team next season. That said I am still concerned on their structure and system they implement and that all comes down to the coaching and Hakstol.

Right now here is where the Kraken sit far as going into the offseason;

Potential unrestricted free agents: Derrick Pouliot, D; Victor Rask, F; Riley Sheahan, F

Potential restricted free agents: Haydn Fleury, D; Morgan Geekie, F; Karson Kuhlman, F; Kole Lind, F; Daniel Sprong, F

Potential 2022 Draft picks: 12

Cap Space: Just over 57 million

Have to think all of the RFA are likely going to be retained and kept. On the FA front I think they have a lot of interest in Pouliot, but likely Rask and Sheahan they may potentially look to free agency to upgrade at the bottom 6.

Francis did state they were going to be key players and I can see them going forward to try and get more scoring and some depth there. A lot of picks and cap space could make them key players.

The big question mark is the goaltending. Driedger injuries and both he and Gru were not good really. Team in front was not great either but often they were letting in some terrible goals. They need one or both to really bounce back next year.

The biggest improvement they can make next year is getting some decent goaltending from those two guys. Gru needs to be better. Not vezina winning but just solid and I think it would go along way to the confidence of the team.

I agree that the RFA's will all have tendered deals and likely re-sign.

UFA's though I am unsure. I can see them testing free agency unless Seattle is the highest bidder. Those guys specifically have been around the league a bit and I can see them looking for cups or a different organization. You know, maybe one gets to goto the leafs on a show me deal and then cash in like Hyman and likely Bunting at some point.

Of their UFA I don't honestly see too much that would interest the Leafs there I don't think. And definitely can see the Kraken looking to upgrade as well really.

I think that is going to be the big thing for the team, getting some offensive punch and some stronger goaltending out of their locked in duo.

Big win and almost shutout last game. Driedger was huge in net and had a really fantastic outting. Shame got down to 5:30 or so and they lost the shutout bid.

Team played a huge game. Good to see them grinding out and trying to win and play bigtime spoilers. That one hurt Dallas for sure.

Rough loss to the Blues. McCann with the bad doible minor high sticking penalty just set the tone and Blues just rolled right over them. Tough 4-1 loss.

Despite the loss Driedger still looks like the go to guy in net and playing much better than Gru. Think Francis really gaffed on that one there.

Nice to see Cale Fleury get called up too.

What a great period on the road 15-3 shots. Chicago riding their goalie. Gru looking solid if not busy really. Just cant get the scoring going.

“There’s been some good games and then there’s some bad games again,” Grubauer said. “And then there’s some good games again. So, we’ve got to find that consistency.” - Gru after last game

Thing is they need offence. 4 of last 5 they can barely score two goals. Not often you are going to win any games if you can't muster goals. The team is just completely inconsistent in how they play, can't score, and even getting good goaltending especially the past 5 games, can't generate offence to win.

Definitely going to be interesting seeing what Beniers brings and can do in a short sample size. In the end though it is going to come down to what Francis can draft and pick up in UFA this offseason in order to make the team far better. His expansion draft was a huge dissapointment.

Also saturday night will be pride night for the Kraken, against the Calgary Flames.

Nonbinary artist Glynn Rosenberg designed the warmup jerseys incorporating symbols associated with the LGBTQ+ communities. The design is meant to convey that all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, belong in the game of hockey.

Color usage involves a reinterpretation of the trans flag. Shades of blue represent the deep sea, a tie to the Kraken, while budding roses represent bright futures for trans and nonbinary people. Pansy flowers are for the disrupted perceptions of hockey/ gender norms combining images of softness and femininity with strength.

During the game, the Kraken will project the pride flag on ice as well as having ribbon boards and players’ stick tape. Also cue the rally towels the team and sponsor Symetra are giving away to fans.

Going to be a colourful night indeed.

Tough 4-1 loss to the playoff bound Flames. Big goose egg for 5 on the powerplay certainly doesnt help at all. Especially the 4th EN goal coming with the Flames short handed no less.

Matt Beniets has signed. 3 year ELC and expected at practice with the team on monday.

Very interested to see where and how they use him and to get a look. Definitely a big piece of the future here coming in.

Beniers makes his Kraken debut vs the Flames and things actually started out and were going pretty well. Rookie picked up his first point assisting on the Krakens opening goal by Donato and they were tied 1-1 after the 1st and leading 3-1 after 2 periods. In the end though Flames rallied in the third and net 4 and take it by a final 5-3.

Tough and sad loss there in the end but least Beniers got a point and made a decent impact in his first game.

Beniers gets his first nhl goal. Kraken finding some late season wins.

AND

New minority owners join the ownership group including Seahawks Lynch. Goong to be great for markwtting and community engagement to build that up for the team.

Way to end the season boys!!

First period goals by Gourde and Larsson held up. Fine performance by Driedger. And ENG to cap it by Rask on home ice in front of a packed fanbase.

Season was a bit disappointing but they always entertained and kept games close and tight really.

Now begins Francis’ real work.

While fans enjoyed painting the ice and the team locks up a few young players, the big question has finally been answered. Kraken drafting 4th. They fell one spot as New Jersey moved up, but overall not a bad spot to get another solid piece of the team’s future for Francis.

Playoffs nearly done but not a whole lot of Kraken news. And then this hits...

Dreidger gone due to knee injury playing for Canada and out 7-9 months.

Well this just got interesting. Wonder what Francis will do for adding some depth to the goaltending position.
