That was his only play. The Flyers were changing along the boards. Couldnt send it up his side. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
His only play was a weak flip up the center of the ice that was easily picked off for a transition attack the other way?
So he couldn't have made another D to D pass back to Sanheim while waiting for the change to complete. He tried to make a airborne pass through numerous sticks to a streaking Brown on the other wing. It was an extremely poor decision. |

Exactly. Without fail every Risto mistake has a MJL rip attached to it. Sanheim makes a mistake, rarely gets mentioned. Even Yandle doesnt get ripped as much as Ristolainen. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Truth! And the Risto ripping started before he even got here.

Yea not looking good tonight after a decent showing on Sunday. I am still interested to see how they play over the remaining games. - Don Nachbaur
I remember reading that Frost needs to play on a line with better talent to show what he can do. Well, I guess the same could be said for Tippett. |

Thats not my argument. Any time Ristolainen franks up you are on him like white on rice. No other player get that much hate from you. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Nah, Yandle gets far more from me. Including my opinion that he should've retired. Again, you and others fail to realize that individually, he is the most discussed player on the team.
|
|
|

You fail to realize that Ristolainen is an often discussed player. I don't often start the conversation but join in. Perhaps if Ristolainen gave me less material to work with, I wouldn't have to criticize him so often. It's not endless and relentless. It's simply factual.
They did have to fill a need. They picked the wrong players and I had issues with both moves before they even played a game. - MJL
I totally understand that Risto is often discussed but based on your assessments, he shouldn't be in the NHL. I agree totally that he makes bonehead plays and I do not view him as an elite player. He has now played on 2 of the worst teams in the league so who really knows how he'd be on even a bubble team?
And again, you still haven't answered the question about who you would have brought in to try to improve the D?

A few points here
1) sanheim is still youngish. Although that ship is close to sailing
2) players like yandle are so washed up and he’s gone in a few weeks.
3) the reason to rip risto is because what was given up in assets
4) the awful extension. Doubling down on a mistake
It’s not all risto fault. He’s not a 2nd pair dman. He’s a fine 3rd pair sheltered minutes dman
He’s played up in lineup and overplayed. So every game he’s bound to make a mistake or 2 that leads to goals. His whole career gone this way. Age his age and experience it is what it is. |

I would disagree that in my assessment, Ristolainen shouldn't be in the NHL.
He is a major contributor to both of those teams being bad teams.
Again, you're right. I haven't answered the question and I don't intend to. It's not relevant to Ristolainen as a player.

This is a perfect game to show how some flyer fans still think this team can be good and compete for playoffs.
Prime example of a team 3-0 young needs to learn to not let teams back in game.
With philly experience and supposed talent they should be winning this game. Or by some flyers fans thinking anyways.
So philly keeps it close. Maybe loses by goal and possibly even pulls a win out here and there in game like this and some flyers fans think oh if we had healthy roster we can compete
When the opposite is true. Instead of looking at why and how they lose these games and why and how it’s not gonna get any better with these players they make excuses and always will |

but it is relevant because as much as you rip Risto, one of the biggest reason you and others complain about him is what was given up for him. So, knowing you had a need to fill and had said assets, knowing who was available during that time, who would you have targeted and how would you have obtained them?
you can sit there and criticize a move that's made because, at the end of the day, you're not the GM and nothing can happen to you by not making a move. There's no ramifications to you with you constantly coming here telling us what you wouldn't have done. Well, Fletcher had to do something. That fact that you cannot even come up with one alternative move other than Risto proves you are talking out of your a$$ and your assessments are literally based on nothing.

I view Rostolainen as a player who brings an element we needed, not need to lean on. I think we learn on him a lot. He’s not perfect but again, we’re asking a lot of him. |

Bill, I thought Bobby Clarke looked good at the ceremony last week, but noticed he was limping badly. Is he recovering from something or is he really that hobbled? - backfire
I was wondering the same thing about Clarke? Did Bill respond to you? I have an orthopedic background and Immediately thought that he had a knee replacement. |

Theres a 2 year difference between Sanheim and Ristolainen

Proving my point. Of course I'm wrong sometimes. Everyone is. If I am, I have no issue with you or anyone else coming at me for it. Fair game. Just be accurate. Numerous times you haven't been.
Do you see how you can't successfully refute my opinion so instead you have to make these ad hominem attacks.

I hear what you are saying, but a lot of things can happen between now and the beginning of next season that could change the direction dramatically. Acquisitions, trades, coaching changes can move the needle.

At first I thought maybe, just maybe Yandle was on the PP to attempt to dupe someone into thinking he had something left as a depth guy for a playoff run. A day after the deadline, here we are and he’s still manning the point on the PP. I know it’s been beaten to death, but I held out hope after the deadline passed maybe they’d finally pull him off. Guess that was wishful thinking. Thanks Yeo. |
