"Islanders missed opportunity to sell at trade deadline." This title falls in line with the Islanders need to trade for a a scorer or for a defenseman.

And when you ask the person who are they trading for? The response is. "I do not know but they need someone". Or they find ways to not trade someone or ask why would you want to trade that guy?

My point here is, no one knows except for Lou and the other GMs what the asking price or offers were. So to say it was a missed opportunity? I do not know if that would be accurate.

What I know is accurate is that the Islanders did not over pay for something and/or just give something away. I do believe moves need to be made:::cough::::Legit scorer and a Top Four defenseman. Preferably one that can rush the puck and quarter back a Powerplay.

I am also in agreement that the team needs to filter in more youth.

I also like that Lou made cap friendly deals with Parise and Clutter.

Fiala or Dumba. Wild can’t keep both.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Dumba play RHD? They're going to need someone on the other side. They're set for the foreseeable future on the right.

Fiala interests me though. Curious what they'd ask for him.

ELCs and picks. Parise/Suter buyouts leave them little room for anything else.

Makes sense. I don't even know what the Isles could offer.

On one hand, Guerin's hands are tied. On the other hand, Fiala is still an RFA and a good player that a lot of teams are going to want. Also, if Lou is serious about Chychrun, he's not going to be able to move a first...unless he's prepared to move 1st's this year and next, which seems like not a good idea.

That it is not.

Though the cost certainty of Chychrun damn near makes it worth it.

I think I'd rather sign Forsberg at like $9.5M than trade for Fiala and sign him for around $6.5M or so. Eats more cap space but it's not a wholesale mortgaging of the future. Of course, a ton of people will want to sign Forsberg

Trading away guys like Salo and Raty, plus multiple first rounders, could prove absolutely disastrous down the line. Like full tear-down rebuild kind of disastrous.

I hope to hell Lou doesn’t move Räty. That kid could be something special.

And yeah, I would hesitate to move too many futures.

I think I read somewhere earlier today that Raty ended the season on a 6gm point streak. 40pts in 41gp for the kid (13g, 27a) Good for 14th in the league in scoring. He also played fewer games than almost everyone ahead of him on that list.

Looks like Jurkurit is making the playoffs. Wonder if he doesn't sign and finish the season in Bridgeport if they have an early exit.

Yes, Dumba is a RD. The Wild are going to have a goalie problem next year with Kaukonen traded. Talbot at 35 with a decent contract that ends next year. They will have to get to 2 goalies soon with little cap room. They would be happy to settle for whichever Russian goalie of yours has the smaller cap hit.

Raty had a bad year in his draft year but was projected to be a high pick. I think the isles got a real steal here

Unfortunately the one with the smaller cap hit is almost entirely untouchable, but the difference is only $1M.

I'm not totally sold on the idea they'll trade Varlamov unless the return is something they can't say no to.

I'd say that Varlamov for Fiala straight-up is something I could be interested in, but I don't think that really fits the Wild's cap situation. Maybe they could retain $1M or so to make it work, but I'm not entirely sure that'd do it either.

I think they're going be extremely hesitant to trade Varly.
