40-50 consistently is like Ovechkin-level talent, something tells me that they're not gonna find that. A regular 30-goal guy (Forsberg) and a defenseman that can skate and transport the puck effectively would go a loooong way. - eichiefs9
Forseberg is the guy I want them to get that bolsters the top line and pushes someone out of the lineup while making it stronger overall. Bailey is who I'd like to see replaced but it will be wahlstrom I think |

I believe Forsberg typically plays the left side. I'm skeptical, on the outside chance we signed him, that Trotz would play Forsberg-Barzal-Wahlstrom but that'd be one hell of a fun line to watch. |

Kind of picking nits. I think you know what I mean. If they add a 30-40 goal guy to go along with Nelly & Lee, that would be definitely help. Then you have Wally. If Palms and Parise can get on track early next year, that'd go a long way to helping out the goalies. And, as you stated, adding a puck moving D-man is what this team needs. Aho proved last night that he's not it. That was a horrific turn-over(in terms of how and where it happened). Wouldn't be surprised if we heard that someone got called up. |

Even the Detroit announcers (that's the broadcast I had to listen to) were saying that if it weren't for the 13 game road trip, Covid and injuries that the Isles would more than likely be in the playoffs this year. Maybe being in a new building contributed a little bit as well. You have to get to know the rink. How the puck comes off the boards. The dead spots. How the puck rims around the glass. Yeah they had a few practices but it was new to them as well as their opponents. Maybe I'm just grasping at straws for excuses, but this season is what it is. Move on to the off season and see what Lou does. - Isleshockeyman
Other teams suffered through Covid however Ottawa and The Isles were (frank)ed by the league in my opinion. Not to mention eventually the league stopped testing non symptomatic players.
I think the goalies weren’t as sharp in the beginning of the year as they are right now. Every game there was a soft goal or we just didn’t get that timely save when we needed it that can change a game. Now this also has to do with the team and how it was playing in front of the the goalies. Also the 20 day pauses of games during the season killed them as well.
I believe in the d and o core on this team and with as Chief said a puck transporting d man and a top 9 RW or forward they will be right in the mix. I hope Wahlstrom and or Bellows can grow, take the next step and gain some consistency and confidence next season as Dobson has this year. That will be huge.
Forsberg would be a incredible add for sure. |

Sorokin, .948 in past 30 days, is the main reason Isles almost have a reasonable chance to gain enough points to make the last couple weeks of the season seem like there is a hope of finishing within 2 points of a playoff spot.

So the Detroit announcers threw up a stat last night that Chara had played 144 NHL games before Dobson was born. |

Yes, and a high draft pick would be nice, too.
Unfortunately, over the past couple months we have dropped from 6th or 7th to 13th.

I told you guys that's what would happen. It's just such an Islander thing. Don't get me wrong, I always pull for them to win. In fact, if I thought they were intentionally tanking, I'd quit being a fan immediately. Yes, I'd like them to have a high draft pick, but I want integrity above all else. |
