A Minnesota wild cast off…ie another Nick Seeler…although this kids more offensive.
- landros 2

Yeah, I just saw Chuck had signed him to the Wild as an undrafted free agent.

At least it’s not Brett Hextall lol

We just got a D man from the Marlies for future considerations lol

At least this Ex Wild slug isn’t taking up one of the contract slots that were freed up.

Chuckles the 🤡 doing favors again.

How’s Chris Stewart doing? Need an update from the player development side.

Actually, Menell was the 2nd highest scoring Dman in the KHL and the Wild couldn’t sign him. Wild wanted a two way contract but Menell insisted on a one way. Menell was really good in the AHL for the Wild. Don’t know what happened with the dud season with the Marlies. Not good at 24.

The Wild had him in mind for a 3rd pair dman when Menell’s agent gave them the ultimatum. Menell got in the Wild’s doghouse earlier by going to the KHL during Covid. Menell wasn’t getting any ice time in North America so he went against their wishes. I’m with Menell on that one. Possibly, Menell’s agent was inflexible because the Wild dogged him about Menell going to the KHL. Kind of a cluster****.

I said it then...say it now, we could have had Hakinpaa for an extremely manageable contract.

Thank you! I am not up on other teams like I used to be so forgot about Hakinpaa. Yes, he would have filled the need.

I will politely disagree. All I have to do is look at games last year and perhaps even further back and this year. Losing yes, but getting manhandled as well is not acceptable and never will be in my opinion.

Perhaps the game has passed my by as I am reminded every time I see that overgrown dustball on my tv screen during home games......

I agree with you. Remember when we barely beat Montreal in the playoffs 2 years ago? They pushed us around plenty and no need to even bring up the Islanders series. Before I get slammed (not by you), I am not saying Risto and MacEwan are the answers, but we needed to add some element of toughness. Pretty bad last year when TK was one of the only players to show any pushback.

The Flyers gave up cap space and let a team off the hook with a troublesome contract with 6 years still left on it.

The Flyers literally gave up nothing to get Ellis. Now they have to figure out a way to get him healthy. Really strange that they haven't decided on surgery at this point. Watch them wait until August and then he'll be out most of next season too.

Good teams are strong on the puck. Strong in puck battles and around the net. That has to be team wide. Some of the best defenseman in Flyers history, including Mark Howe, Eric Desjardins and Kimmo Timmonen didn't do it with big hits. They did it with positioning, leverage and strong sticks. Bringing in a mediocre player like Ristolainen and a poor player in MacEwen is not the answer as you suggest. Getting faster and more skilled along with team wide toughness. Not individual toughness is the answer.

I know but that's not looking at all the variables. In today's NHL, cap space is as much an asset as any player in a trade.

Watched a half decent amount of the Sabres/Pens game this evening on TNT. Looks like the Sabres are yet another team with lots of young talent being developed at the NHL level. Their young defenseman(Dahlin)looks like a stud in the making. Dude was just all over the ice. Some of their other young players impressed me too. What to do? Gonna take a stab at the next 2 Flyers games. It's pretty much a no brainer that they're gonna lose, but I'll say the combined score of the two games will be 12-4. Playing the Avs on the road on the second half of back to backs? Yikes!!!!!

Interesting….Phil Myers has been loaned to the Toronto Marlies…the leafs farm team, directly from the pred’s….talk of a buyout this summer if they can’t move him.

It’s shocking to me how his career has panned out thus far. I really liked this kid and thought he had all the tools. It’s results like this that confirm I really have no idea what to make of prospects

The Sabres for the first time look like they have a strong core of players to build with moving forward and have been playing really good hockey lately. Oddly enough they will most likely be better than the golden knights in a year or two, nice job Eichel

The Knights are slowly but surely becoming a mess. Their swoon right now is due to injuries, but they have major cap issues going forward and that is an issue that can't be avoided.

On another note, I hear Bobby Brink is leading the college ranks in scoring. Can this kid skate?

His skating issues have been overblown. He has a wonky style but he gets where he needs to go. But the real trick is that he KNOWS where to go before everyone else.

Its the unfortunately reality of many on this forum, no matter what Fletcher does it the wrong thing because he sucks. Even a move like this which is just to give Lappy some depth as his team tries to get to the playoffs is bashed. Its sad.

I would hope that since the WJCs his skating has improved, but haven't seen any of his recent games.

To be fair, we weren’t put over the top until we picked up Chris Pronger who was successful with big hits every night. Mike Richards big hit on David Krejci may have swung the Boston series in our favor. The last really physical team we had with Pronger, Richards, Hartnell, Carcillo, Laperriere and Powe probably got us to a cup final.

Fans were asking to become more physical last season. They get it and they’re upset now. Looking to passed unsuccessful Flyers teams is not very good examples for success.

I hope the Sabres continue to play well the rest of the season, picked up 2 pts last night against Pittsburgh. The more teams ahead of the Flyers, the better.
