He's been in the league for nine seasons and almost 600 games already. Why do you want to blame everyone but him for how his career has turned out?
He claimed to be unhappy in Buffalo because they were a terrible team, so he moved to another team that's just as bad, but then he was happy to take the giant bag of money Fletcher offered him rather than get a chance to play on a playoff team with a better coach. Risto does not give a (frank) about winning, and the Flyers are stuck with him for five years unless the next GM buys him out. - Feanor

The coaches. But he plays the same way whoever the coach is. - Feanor
Asking what good coaches he has had, is not absolving him of blame. Get a grip.

A team is limited to 4 call ups after the trade deadline. The Flyers already used 2 of them for AHL clear day. Which means they have two call ups remaining. They cannot just bring up players from the AHL to see if they can play. That's why they went with the lineup they did last night after trading 3 players. - MJL
Is this more incompetence by the GM and his staff?

Does it really matter at this point? The only thing management should be trying to do is get us the highest pick possible. Trading G was a good start to that. Keeping Yeo is another good thing for that. I'd would also want to keep some of the kids away from this group.

Makes sense, but it was sad to see them struggling with that 11-7 lineup last night when Laczynski could possibly have been playing 3C. - Feanor
Maybe questionable judgement since the Phantoms aren't in a strong playoff spot and no real chance to win the AHL championship. So why not call up some players instead and get a look?

With all the injuries, covid and nhl callups, the Phantoms never had a steady lineup. I am surprised they were competitive at all.

May not be a fav of most but Zach MacEwen brings it every game. Plays his role very well. Chuck should resign him for 1M, solid 4th line player. I can see why Canucks fans were not happy when Flyers picked him up. - 3flyerkids

Metric comparison between Risto and Sanheim this game:
SAT‑F SAT‑A CF% CRel% HIT BLK TOI +/-
Rasmus Ristolainen 15 18 45.5 -0.7 4 1 20 -2
Travis Sanheim 15 18 45.5 -0.7 0 2 20 -2
Another game where their metrics are pretty much the same, but I will keep posting it. - jd250
That's great. Anyone with two, heck, one functioning eye could see that he was awful last night. Dreadful.

So the flyers defense was very bad last season a poster said in the prior thread. I do not think anyone will disagree. They needed to improve in that area.
So the solution to that was acquiring an average at best dman in RR. Makes sense. - hello it's me 2050
Who would you have targeted instead? Your jobs on the line and you must make a move. Of who was available who would you have rather gone after?
The same people saying they would t have signed Risto are the same people who would have spent the entire season calling the Flyers soft.
It’s not like he was signed to be a 1a or even a 1b. That distinction goes to Glass Ellis |

I was thinking last night who could/should be our next Captain. At first, My mind went to Couts as he’s been here the longest. Then thought maybe Laughton. However, I came to the conclusion I think I’d go Farabee. A) I think he’s the next face of the franchise B) His age can be the bridge between vets and youth. C) he’d have a great cast of Vet As in Couts, Laughts, Hayes and Atkinson. - arichardson22
I wouldn't. He's still too young and trying to improve his game. Let him do that without the weight of the C.

Maybe when Morin gets healthy we can trade Risto since he’s the same player. Never seen them in the same room at the same time.. |

numerous player on that list and I wont even include Hamilton.
The GM was fixated on RR. That is a fact. To resign him was just plain stupid. I can live with the trade (dont agree with it) but you cut your losses.
This myth about RR and his physicality is just that.
His job clearly isnt on the line. |
